inoculation query
    #1692778 - 07/07/03 01:06 PM (14 years, 9 months ago)

hello shroomery board! long time reader, first time posting. i'm inlove with this board! fugu, you rock! i was staring at my mouse's 3 week old first attempt pf tek jar and was wondering, would there be a
benefit or significant difference if he place a big squirt of spore inoculant right in the very center of the substrate in addition to the four on the sides? would this help colonize the innards of the jar?

p.s. anno's pics are hot!

Generally, the more inoculant in the jar, the faster the colonization. Problem is if you use too much, you'll mess up the moisture content. If this is your first grow, and guessing from your question, it is, then follow the tek to the letter. It's written that way for a reason and any changes you make are more likely to lead to problems than benefits. Save your modifications for when you have a little more experience.

Good luck!

yeah, my mouse is gonna wait till later, i was just wondering for fruture use. he's definitely waiting till he gains further experience. and, yes, it is his first time cltivating. the wait is brutal though. these first three weeks seem to crawl. but patience and sterility is what i've been told.
<br>
my mouse (static) has been researching for over three years now and comparing teks of all different kinds. his favorites so far are pf tek and shroom wizard's. i was thinking of suggesting also later to static that he should try liquid mycelium inoculation.
<br>
also, could anyone suggest a good brand of hygrometer? i saw one for like $17 at home depot. by it looks like the kind that indicate "high" RH past like 85%.
<br>
that tis all for now.
