You may have been spending too much time with hippies. Might as well ask a cow if it would please morph into a horse.

We should talk about boletes more often. That paper was a fun read Alan. Thanks.

How they'd smack you if they could...

They can. Just ask them to smack him and they will...

Alan Rockefeller said: I think Arora's narrative says the mushrooms are psychoactive raw, but not when cooked. And that undercooked mushrooms from the markets sometimes cause hallucinations.
He does also suggest that just cooking them a little may make them active in the Further Research section.

Yes, I also had a problem with this. It's ambiguous as to whether he's describing a dream or a dream-like state. It doesn't sound unlikely that Heim just fell asleep at some point after consuming the Boletus and attributed his dreams to the mushroom. Such an ambiguous report leads me to suspect that Heim may have been subject to confirmation bias and the general placebo effect.
Also his testing doesn't make sense. He took less than 60mg of B. Manicus on three occasions with no effect. (What a bizarrely small amount of mushroom to consume!) Then upped his does to an undisclosed amount (this time we're told it's powdered), reports some 'fleeting visions' and then never repeats the experiments!?
WTF Heim, sort yourself out!
