Nanotechnology
    #1692062 - 07/07/03 04:26 AM (14 years, 5 months ago)

I just watched a documentry on this, it's so interesting. They are talking about building machines on a molecular level. Brain damage reversal, super human streangth, and other things were mentioned. The one that caught my ear was artificial blood cells... tiny oxygen tanks that would release oxygen as needed, allowing the user to hold their breath for hours on end. With nanotech, I think we will enter the new evolution of man, we will make ourselves an entirely new species of superhumans pretty much.

Humankind is on the verge of a lot of breakthroughs, I hope I'm around to see something big happen.

Heres some Nanotechnology links:

Hrmm..yea heard about these awhile back

I dunno if you watch "The Outer Limits" but they have a freaky episode about these little buggers. Pretty cool actually

But keep in mind they are talking 50 years or more of research... We have only begun to see the possibilities.

It also opens up the possiblity of machines that are so intricately complex that they could build other machines even more perfect.
Sounds like the beginning of the end to me  Ever see the animatrix hehehe

Mckenna mentioned numerous times that he was expecting all of these sciences to fuse together more and more as we "progress" - he felt that nenotechnology and neurosciences and genetic engineering and artificial intelligence and all of these cool new things would start fusing together into all sorts of new amazing posibilities.. He mentioned that the "physics people" aren't talking to the "chemistry people" and the "chemsitry people" aren't talking to the "biology people" and so on, and that as global communication increases, these things will tie together into very impressive packages.

lol I can't wait  Nanotechnology should certainly continue to get more interesting

Exciting times are coming indeed! However, I find McKenna to be a bit more "techno-friendly" than he may ought to be. Even more so, since he was not really involved in these technologies, but used to speculate from within his own dreamworld, waking up every day to his morning spliff. There are dangers and pitfalls ahead and people should better get their compasses out. Following technology to wherever it takes us is of the least wise things to do.

That fog sounds really cool. But they don't talk about an energy source. So where would the energy come from and how could it be supplied to all of the nanomachines?

yea they already have things that go into the blood stream for army/etc. and they carry moe oxygen to the brain n stuff so now they can hold there breath for 30 min. or longer

yeah having tiny devices with specific tasks is way easier than trying to make super-versitile "artificial molecules" that can conform to any type of shape and mode of mechanism.

Wow, after "Spnsored," I stoped reading.

Nanotechnology isn't exactly new, nonetheless, it is interesting. MEMS in wafer production uses nanotechnology, so any chip has nanotechnology. I had the pleasure of going to Semicon West this year and learned alot about this kind of stuff. Although I found the front end to be much more interesting.
