Washing new jars
    #1691562 - 07/07/03 12:44 AM (13 years, 5 months ago)

Do you wash your jars(soap and water) after buying new ones? I doubt it would make any difference, but I dident find anything in the search feature about it. I ask this just to make sure they dont have some sort of film on them, and maybe so they will be less prone to contams. Any imput? Should I even bother doing it?

Didn't bother. They looked clean, and since I was going to PC them, I wasn't worried about contams.

When i was small and my granny used to can veggies from the garden she always washed them VERY well. it even says to do so right on the box the jars came in and in your pressure cooker manual.

It doesnt hurt to be a little extra cautious and clean them out good. Though, using the PC should suffice in sterilizing them completely.
