idealists and terrorists
    #1691331 - 07/06/03 09:30 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

-so we have terrorists in this world, who are basically idealists who try to realize their ideals through violence.

-then we have the "real" world, which is imperfect, democracy is imperfect, capitalism is imperfect, the real world is imperfect, and it isnt ever going to be perfect.

-so basically, terrorists represent humans who live inside their own self-constructed perfect reality, and they conflict with the majority's reality, which is imperfect. this results in violence.

thoughts????

Good point. If someone feels victimized by the world or by his circumstances then he feels enraged. A person could also feel depressed, but that would be feeling sorry for himself.

But then again, should we dare go so far and say that anyone enraged by his circumstances is a bit of an idealist? Is there a certain threshold where we could draw a line, and if you cross this line we could say, "Your being too idealistic."?

that's an interesting point, Atomik

I would say there is a difference though from feeling your ideals are being infringed upon and being pushed by a bully as far as you can be...

Like there are the religious dudes who will blow shit up in the name of their precious god, and then people who have had literally everything taken away from them.
Do you see that as a difference?

Good post

In the future, the evolved will make there reality, and there will be those to try to "keep them in the program" which can result in terroristic behavior. Its called the end of control!

Yes it will, the problem is that the collective dream serves to eat on you, but you will come along to make your own dream which is perfect, since you'll be the judge of what is evil and what is good.

"There's truth in your fiction and fiction in your truth." i always liked that quote.
