pearlite vs. Verm

What is the diffrance and can i use pearlite in my grain jars?

Perlite gives off it's moisture faster. Like little lava rocks and verm is like little sponges. I wouldn' t use perlite in a casing but others may have used it with good results.

Perlite and vermiculite are two complete different substances.  Its like comparing apples and oranges. 

If you need to humidify your grow chamber, use perlite. 

If you want to case your substrate use vermiculite.

perlite with peat often use for pan cyan species as a casing layer.as you are a total newbie you should start with cakes .and you need verm to built up your cake and you need perlite to make the relative humidity %100 to fruit your cake.
