Experiencing a strange sense of movement b4 sleep
    #1688403 - 07/05/03 04:45 PM (20 years, 7 months ago)

Has anybody else had this, I get it almost every night.

I remember as a child I had this also. When I go to sleep just b4 I get there I feel almost like i'm rocking backwards and forwards, almost like I'm moving in and out?!    I have thought it could b my soul leaving the body???

It is a very odd feeling, I have spoke to a friend and he has had this also, any explainations? :eyemouth:

I don't know what it is or why we experience it, but I too will notice almost nightly the shift from waking consciousness to sleep.  For me though, it's a feeling of driving into something and suddenly go from a smooth forward motion to sudden stop; like crashing into something...but I don't feel as if I'm in a car or anything.   Consciousness is such a great thing.

How strange! I'm glad to c i'm not alone!

It seems to stop or crash, as u said, for me when I think or concentrate. If I let my mind adrift it goes haywire and eventualy I sleep/forget.

sleep is a very odd thing though, only time we are detached from reality and somewhere else

Seriously man, that is the beginning signs of an out of body experience. Your normal conciousness has been projected into your energy body and thats the body you feel moving. The best way to go from where you feel your body moving is to project your awareness out of your body, such as imagining your climbing a rope attached to your ceiling for a while, left hand after right and you will feel many wierd things but keep on climbing.

Ive read many books on the subject and have projected conciously without any entheogens before.

yes, but the day a person realizes their waking consciousness is as empty as their dreaming consciousness...that's when tripping with them gets good!!

What i don't like is that when your half-sleeping you JUMP for some reason. Sometimes it can scare the shit out of you.

That kinda shit happens often awhile back too.

That's a hypnic jerk, and no one knows its exact purpose. It could either be just some kind of reset signal in the nervous system, or maybe it's nature's way of giving us a chance to change our minds before deciding where to sleep (that could have been useful for our ancestors who slept on tree branches).

man, i get that shit all the time, every night usually. but for me, i can only hold still for a short while, before i got to move. its weird, like when i sleep i sometimes see how long i can just lay there before i GOT to move. starts out ok, then i feel my body get all warm and tingly, then kinda a rocking like if i were on a little row boat or something. this builds up to a point where i just want to scream, and the littlest movement makes it all go away....lately ive been trying to avoid this irresistable urge to move, even the slightest shift in body weight will satisfy. but man, after about 5 or 6 minute of just laying motionless, every nerve in my body is just screaming. i like the feeling, but its just about unberable at the same time......anyway

Now we've got this going a bit I will tell you of a strange experience. I'd eaten 12Grams Fresh that is to test my latest batch. The trip was fine, a little stronger than I expected for the amount.

Anyhow It was the end and I was ready to go to bed. I experience the phenomena we are describing but instead of moving to stop it I allowed it to continue. At this point I would normally be asleep however my spirit was projected out and I was surrounded be bright white light and felt utterly content. This lasted for a few seconds then I jolted back to my body almost painfully!

I get a feeling of moving very often, and lots of times I feel like everything is racing, like my mind is flying through so many thoughts I can't concentrate. Also, once a couple of years ago I was really tired and went to sleep at like 6 pm. I sort of woke up, it was probably like 10 pm, but I couldn't open my eyes and couldn't move at all, and I heard this really loud abrasive sound that was like screaming at me. It scared the shit out of me. It felt like 4 seconds, but at the same time it felt like 15 minutes. My mom had a similar experience. She's a nurse who works nights at a hospital, and she usually takes a nap during her breaks. She slept on a floor of the hospital that is supposedly 'haunted', and the same thing that happened to me happened to her.

whoa, i thought i was the only one who felt that. as a kid, i would do it all the time before sleep and it was fun. i'm older now and i find it more difficult to do it. as a matter a fact, i actually was able to do it yesterday. also, smoking weed in the day makes it easier for me to do it.
