Can I learn to draw manga from a "learn to draw" book?

My title already sounds silly.
I enjoy reading Manga, and the characters are pretty cool looking in a basic way.
I opened one of my books called .hack and tried to draw them, and I just couldn't. I guess I don't have a very artistic thumb.
Are those "Learn to draw Manga" books any good?
Can I just find something decent online?
I know I can just Bing this, but I want a site that's known to be good, or a book that's known to be good before I waste money.

Practice. You can't expect to draw a decent looking character on your first try. Also, start with the basics. Reduce what you're trying to draw into geometric shapes, boxes, pears etc until you've got it down.
Also, Mark Crilley's videos have some good tips. And there are tons more youtube channels with drawing tutorials, some good and a lot of shit of course.

Nice man, I just subscribed to it. I'll have to check it out later.
And also, I have to figure out youtube again. I click my account now, and it brings me to google+ I don't even know what it is, but I hate it.

I learned to draw manga from howtodrawmanga.com when I was in 7th grade over a decade ago. Just googled them, they're still open and free.
I practiced drawing Excel and Hyatt for years. Can't find any of my artwork from then though.
Looks like they improved in diving the sections more clearly for what you want/are looking for too:
