I don't mind standing at a show (?), nor do I mind standing next to well-dressed people (although standing next to a EL wire hedgehog is cool). Of course, what some people call 'not music' other people call experimental IDM or some such label. I love Amon Tobin, and I really enjoyed both sets, although I enjoyed the second one more with the d'n'b vibe. I saw him in a venue with poor sound though, so I could only give it a 9/10 probably. Super amazing though, and I would recommend it to anyone with an open mind for art.

Amon is great, i just thought isam was kind of sub-par for the bar he set. foley room was genius, and i love his 'making of foley room'

Okay so about 10 months after I posted that - I was finally able to catch the show. I was waiting about 2 years since I saw the original ISAM trailer, and I have to say it was definitely worth the wait. I didn't get to see the original, this one he was calling 2.0 and was apparently much bigger than the original stage set up. I never really heard much of his music before (if any), and some parts were a little sonically dissonant for me, but the visuals more than made up for that. It was one of the most visually impressive performances I've ever seen, and I've been to a lot of shows.
Also the venue I saw him in had massive sound, so it was really overwhelming and sensory overload. I'm sure the cubes helped

I realize this is an old thread, but I saw him at a fest in April and I was incredibly disappointed. I really REALLY like ISAM, but I just didn't enjoy it for whatever reason. I would rather listen to it in my living room.

i saw his isam set at bisco and it was fucking awesome
you gotta think about it this way tho, the frst half of his set is music playing TO the visuals, and the second half is the visuals playing to the music
but i thought his set was sick, i mean the second half when he was dropping music to showcase his own stuff it was sick, some crazy ass music and people were def getting down
people behind me were all starting this thing where everyone in the back was sitting down in the first half, it was a cool idea but i was at the point right where people stopped sitting, so i was sitting but the people 15 in font of me werent so even tho everyone behind me could see, i couldnt see shit, so i was like fuck this and was like the only dude standing up lol, i fekt so cheated for not being able to see the screen tho and i didnt care i just stood up, then eventually everyone else did too
the bisco crowd def made that set better tho, ive never seen such a huge field of people all fucking with glowsticks and rave toys etc etc, like it was fucking insane and i was tripping my face off on a good amount of liquid...i thought it was the best set of the weekend, or at least where i had the most fun
i wanteed to go to his boston show like 2 weeks ago but i didnt bc i decided that what went down in the crowd at bisco def made his set better and a boston crowd probly wouldnt have been able to receate that, so ill prob never seen isam again bc of that...it was fucking awesome tho

overall, completely sick. there was maybe one tune that i didn't feel bad about going off to the bar to get a drink. the isam stuff was better than the two fingers stuff, but great show nonetheless. different crowd. older and not so much partying for the most part. i was clear headed for the night and i'd like to see that again really, really high.
my only complaint is that he only played a tad bit of "slowly" and i wanted him to go into the isam version of that.
