Squarepusher - Selection Sixteen Very trippy and intelligent electronic hip-hop / trance stuff.
Tortoise - TNT Some nice mellow instrumental stuff. Hard to explain, some of it almost has a spanish feel to it but not in a cheesey way. Some very beautiful xylophone tracks.

Here's a few I recently discovered:
The Ananda Shankar Experience - Walking On Someone at the Shroomery recommended me this and I bought it off Ebay real cheap... I was NICELY surprised. I would describe it as indian space-funk rockadellia.
John Frusciante - To Record Only Water For Ten Days Guitarist for RHCP, his solo work is absolutely brilliant, I highly recommend it to anyone... he has a way of putting his spirit directly into what he does, it flows very well... I'm not surprised he has sun in Pisces, moon in Cancer (both water signs), same as Kurt Cobain..
Radiohead - Hail To The Thief I'm sure most of you've heard this album... I never was a big Radiohead fan but it has grown on me! I really like the direction they are taking. Don't judge the album by their single, the whole album is great.

ok a couple more...
David Torn - Polytown I mentioned this before but I will again. David Torn, Terry Bozzio, and Mick Karn. Fuckin awesome instrumental compilation. Has a trippy eastern feel to it. Bozzio is an amazing drummer. The whole album flows really well, it isn't 'showy' at all, Very groovey and haunting sounding.
Deftones - Deftones
Buckethead - Colma Buckethead and Brain (drummer for primus) Flowing mellow guitar work over Brain's hip-hop beats. None of Buckethead's infamous guitar shredding. It flows really well and some of the tracks are downright beautiful.

Shpongle - Are You Shpongled?
A very well done trance/electronic album. Shpongle is the best electronic music you are likely to hear right now. If you dig this album, check out their 2nd masterpiece Tales of the Inexpressible I didn't think it was possible to top the first one but this album just goes beyond all your expectations and beyond all words. Truly some of the best music ever made.

Both of Boards Of Canada's CD's: Music Has A Right To Children and Geogaddi. Such thought-provoking music. So much under the surface. Obviously Tool-Lateralus. I second Radiohead's new CD. I've been a fan and this one has grown so much, there's such diversity yet commonality. It's brilliant. Biosphere - Kobresia Ambient natural beauty. Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun the most ethereal, eclectic, heavenly music....
A short List.

Shpongle is sold out everywhere around here, so I finally placed an order for Are you Shpongled yesterday...
more..
Massive Attack - Mezzanine very dark ambient and moody. some of the moodiest music i've ever heard. excellent chick singer, awesome CD to chill out to in a dark room.
Nightmares On Wax - Carboot Soul nice mellow and very flowy. good to listen to on a sunny day... I picture urban areas in other countries when I hear it.
American Beauty Soundtrack directed by Tim Newton (i think)... A very cool array of instruments.. Well you probably already know what it sounds like from the movie
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew 30 minute long trippy as hell pieces. It's not cliche jazzy at all.. very haunting and twisted sounding. quite a masterpiece.

ill make your ears bleed...and you'll love it!
at the gates- slaughter of the soul at the gates, now cradle of filth + danni filth. chaotic black metal twisted with beautiful, melodic melodies...somehow, it just works perfectly.
every time i die- last night in town some great hardcore/metalcore. the actual music sometimes feels as though its lacking something, but the beautifully written lyrics make up for everything.
converge- jane doe 200mph down the road and you just let go of the wheel. speed injected tunes laced with dark overtones and ear shattering fun.
norma jean- bless the martyr & kiss the child norma jean, formerly luti-kriss show great progression with this follow up cd to throwing myself. the new cd compiles impulsive guitar riffs, some tight drumming and great lyrics.
*warning: if ears begin to bleed, consult a doctor first, not sgc*

Heheh, If any of them can top Meshuggah (volume / intensity wise) I'll be impressed.
that 200mph thing sounds interesting...
most heavy music bores me pretty fast (unless I am at a concert in a moshpit than it is the best)
the only heavy groups I listen to right now: mudvayne, system of a down, RATM, meshuggah, Candiria, Sepultura, and a little bit from other groups.

Single Cell Orchestra Not sure about album names, but they have some really trippy slow ambient stuff (as well as upbeat) Their slower tracks remind me destroyed spaceship fragments floating slowly through space.
Amon Tobin - Supermodified Some sort of talented percussionist with lots of interesting samples. Very diverse music, check it out.

Sphongle is probably my favorite shroom music, but other favorites include Allerseelen, Future Sound of London, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Dead Can Dance, Psychic TV, The Swans, Master Musicians of Jajouka, Juno Reactor, Fields of the Nephilim, early Ministry (When they were more electronic), Velvet Acid Christ, Legendary Pink Dots, The Tear Garden, Current 93, Nurse With Wound, Download, and so on.
Long list. I'll probably think of more later.
NOBODY knows about Allerseelen. It's this one obscure guy in Germany that does this intense, amazing esoteric music. You can occasionally find his stuff, but its all incredibly rare. I think Shroomery should consider distributing his stuff.
Sphongle is also pretty unknown in the world, but at least everybody in Shroomery knows about them from one way or another.

Jesse Cook, if it's the same guy I have a selection of his on a Narada guitar sampler disc; I like that label's stuff in general, some very good playing, some's kinda new agey, other's kinda flamenco...i play a little guitar so I appriciate the chops. I like Grav's suggestion of Bitches Brew, that is a great one. Steve Roach - Dreamtime Return Gong - Angel's Egg Gong - You John Coltrane - pretty much anything from 65 - 67. Peter Brotzmann - pretty much anything also; challenging free jazz. Henry Cow - Legend Henry Cow - Unrest Terry Riley - Shri Camel Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica (it is just plain wrong not to have this, it is very demented, acid Delta blues).

Lets see...
Younger Brother - A Flock Of Bleeps (2003)
Simon Posford (Shpongle) and Youth make up this sick duo.
Best psytrance Ive ever heard.
Eatstatic
I recommend every album they have ever put out. Very diverse and original sound. They fucking pound too!
Dark Nebula - The 8th Sphere (2003)
HArd and dark, just the way I like it.
Some nice guitar riffs too, pounding psy.
Green Oms - Coming Through In Waves (2002)
Solid production stlye, tribal rythms, and killer basslines.
VA - TIP World - The Mystery Of The 13 Crystal Skulls
Best compilation ever!
Listen to this one on 5 grams.
VA - Tales From The Dark Forest (2003)
Darkest Compilation Ive ever heard. Period.
Space Tribe - Shapeshifter (2001)
Olli Wisdom may wear a skintight jumpsuit, but he makes sick fucking psy.
His music is out of this world.
Ott - Blumenkraft (2003)
Simply a masterpeice. Dub/Chill at its best.
Dub Trees - East Of The River Ganges (2001)
Great Dub/Downtempo groove, some really wonderful sounds.
Infinity Project - Mystical Experiences (1996)
Classic ambient trip-hoppy stuff. Way ahead of its time.
Thats all for now, check em out and let me know what you thought..

Sounds like some interesting stuff, Effed.. I'm looking for it now. Of course, I refuse to use Kazaa (Gator is evil), so it's going to be a chance thing.
Bah - and I have yet to be able to find a single Shpongle tune (other than the samplers on their site) so I can actually hear what they sound like!

ozric tentacles if you want to get out there.
anything by beck depending on your mood (there's one for each type of trip).
how can we not mention Zappa?!? Get out there and throw in "we're only in it for the money." it will twist you (also "joes garage", "shiek yerbouti", and "hot rats" -- which i think uitilizes captain beefheart).
The soundtrack for Jesus Christ Superstar.
Anything by The White Stripes or the Pixies or Toadies.

Primus, Buckethead, Beethoven, Floyd, Yonder Mountain String Band (insane) and of course the obligatory Dead album ( i prefer "american beauty" or "Oaxmaxoa".
NIN if you're in that mood. Acid Bath if your feeling really evil. Clutch if you just want to jam out and drink some beer, have a good stompin' time and feel like a new world samurai but a redneck nonetheless.
Too many to name. Oh yeah, the flying burrito brothers and the The Doors "American Prayer."
oh, and the beatles -- anything.
flaming lips, tenacious d, david cross' comedy album.... all right, i'll stop.

Quasimoto - The Unseen LP
The best hiphop I've ever heard, jazzy and relaxing with a perfect heliumvoiced rapper.
Madlib Invades Blue Note - Shades of Blue
Madlib, a.k.a. Quasimoto, remixes the Blue Note catalogue
The KLF - Chill Out
Possibly the best ambient album ever.
Rhapsody - Symphony of the Enchanted Lands
HAIL TO THE LORDS OF FANTASY METAL! Italian gods of fantasy/power/hollywood/speed/knight-in-shiny-armor metal, say no more.
Van Morrison - Hymns To The Silence
Just plain good, a relaxing break.
The Doors - The Soft Parade
Just my current favorite Doors album, but you can't go wrong with them anyway.
Pink Floyd - Relics
Oft-overlooked Floyd gem, ranging from Barret's insane britpop, through early melodic dream-floyd, to the jazzy "Biding My Time"
Addvibe - Luv & Happiness
Viking deephouse at its best. R?yksopp go home.
The Sins Of Thy Beloved - Perpetual Desolation
This is how we do Goth around here.

These are my 2 favorite new cd's: Thievery Corporation - Mirror Conspiracy Radiohead - Kid A
I also bought recently Cake - Comfort Eagle System of a Down - Toxicity (again, stolen once) Audioslave - S/T
And I ordered from Amazon a few days ago these 6 cd's: Shpongle: Are You..? Tales of.. Younger Brother: A flock of bleeps Tabla Beat science - Live in San Fransisco at Stern Grove Akira Soundtrack - Geinoh Yamashirogumi Forest For The Trees - Self titled
Some other cds I have that I recommend: Toadies: Rubberneck Phish : Billy Breathes, Farmhouse [despite what you've heard, there are a couple good phish songs] The Coup: Party Music the strokes: is this it? [catchy]
I am in the process of collecting myself some good cds since I have finally invested in a nice stereo mp3s have lost their touch.

-------------------- Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.
In addition: SHPONGLE
