Sphongle is probably my favorite shroom music, but other favorites include Allerseelen, Future Sound of London, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Dead Can Dance, Psychic TV, The Swans, Master Musicians of Jajouka, Juno Reactor, Fields of the Nephilim, early Ministry (When they were more electronic), Velvet Acid Christ, Legendary Pink Dots, The Tear Garden, Current 93, Nurse With Wound, Download, and so on.

Long list. I'll probably think of more later.

NOBODY knows about Allerseelen. It's this one obscure guy in Germany that does this intense, amazing esoteric music. You can occasionally find his stuff, but its all incredibly rare. I think Shroomery should consider distributing his stuff.

Sphongle is also pretty unknown in the world, but at least everybody in Shroomery knows about them from one way or another.

I think everybody knows about Shpongle because a few other people and I can't help but promote it whenever possible

*ahem!*SHPONGLE!*cough!*

woah excuse me..

Have you guys heard of Jesse Cook?

My cousin made me a great CD with selections of his music on it. Very trippy, good quality!

Jesse Cook, if it's the same guy I have a selection of his on a Narada guitar sampler disc; I like that label's stuff in general, some very good playing, some's kinda new agey, other's kinda flamenco...i play a little guitar so I appriciate the chops.
I like Grav's suggestion of Bitches Brew, that is a great one.

Steve Roach - Dreamtime Return
Gong - Angel's Egg
Gong - You
John Coltrane - pretty much anything from 65 - 67.
Peter Brotzmann - pretty much anything also; challenging free jazz.
Henry Cow - Legend
Henry Cow - Unrest
Terry Riley - Shri Camel
Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band - Trout Mask Replica (it is just plain wrong not to have this, it is very demented,
acid Delta blues).

Lets see...

Younger Brother - A Flock Of Bleeps (2003)
Simon Posford (Shpongle) and Youth make up this sick duo.
Best psytrance Ive ever heard.

Eatstatic
I recommend every album they have ever put out. Very diverse and original sound. They fucking pound too!

Dark Nebula - The 8th Sphere (2003)
HArd and dark, just the way I like it.
Some nice guitar riffs too, pounding psy.

Green Oms - Coming Through In Waves (2002)
Solid production stlye, tribal rythms, and killer basslines.

VA - TIP World - The Mystery Of The 13 Crystal Skulls
Best compilation ever!
Listen to this one on 5 grams. :mushroom2:

VA - Tales From The Dark Forest (2003)
Darkest Compilation Ive ever heard. Period.

Space Tribe - Shapeshifter (2001)
Olli Wisdom may wear a skintight jumpsuit, but he makes sick fucking psy.
His music is out of this world.

Ott - Blumenkraft (2003)
Simply a masterpeice. Dub/Chill at its best.

Dub Trees - East Of The River Ganges (2001)
Great Dub/Downtempo groove, some really wonderful sounds.

Infinity Project - Mystical Experiences (1996)
Classic ambient trip-hoppy stuff. Way ahead of its time.

Thats all for now, check em out and let me know what you thought..

Sounds like some interesting stuff, Effed.. I'm looking for it now. Of course, I refuse to use Kazaa (Gator is evil), so it's going to be a chance thing.

Bah - and I have yet to be able to find a single Shpongle tune (other than the samplers on their site) so I can actually hear what they sound like!

ozric tentacles if you want to get out there.

anything by beck depending on your mood (there's one for each type of trip).

how can we not mention Zappa?!?  Get out there and throw in "we're only in it for the money."  it will twist you (also "joes garage", "shiek yerbouti", and "hot rats" -- which i think uitilizes captain beefheart).

The soundtrack for Jesus Christ Superstar.

Anything by The White Stripes or the Pixies or Toadies.

Old. old Van Morrison

Primus, Buckethead, Beethoven, Floyd, Yonder Mountain String Band (insane)  and of course the obligatory Dead album ( i prefer "american beauty" or "Oaxmaxoa".

NIN if you're in that mood.  Acid Bath if your feeling really evil.  Clutch if you just want to jam out and drink some beer, have a good stompin' time and feel like a new world samurai but a redneck nonetheless.

Too many to name.  Oh yeah, the flying burrito brothers and the The Doors "American Prayer."

oh, and the beatles -- anything.

flaming lips, tenacious d, david cross' comedy album.... all right, i'll stop.
