Wet or Bacteria?
    #1690245 - 07/06/03 04:01 PM (13 years, 10 months ago)

My friends pet monkey has 6 jars of South African and 6 jars EQ's colonizing right now. They are almost completely colonized. My question is this. The funky junky monkey just noticed that in several of his jars theres what looks like little beads of water on the side. If he moves them, he can see the water move around also. Is there anyway to tell a difference between a little bit of water and actual bacterial contamination talked about in the FAQ? And just as a side for anyone interested, the EQ's are kicking the shit out of the South African as far as colonization time. Thanks for any replies.

If it's still in the jars and it's over a colonized area, it's probably just condensation over healthy myc.

Condensation. You're fine.

Bacteria is not only imbedded in the substrate, but forms a lot of liquid. You'll know if you got bacteria, check the FAQ for pictures.

Hey thanks for the info. I checked the pics on there, couldnt really get too much from it. Do you think he should loosen up the lids a little bit or uncover the holes in the lids, or just leave it?

Not untill they're 75%-80% colonized. Untape holes and flip the jars, you don't need to open the lid if you have holes in it.
