Jar way behind the rest...Pic
    #1688692 - 07/05/03 07:47 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

The jar with one growth appeared on day 3 and has not progressed at all and its now day 7. THe other jars look like the jar on the left. Is this normal? How long is it safe to wait once the other jars have colonized for this one to catch up? Temp is fluctuating b/t 75-81. RH is 65-75. His other question is, Is is safe to handle jars one or two times a day while he is inspecting the growth? Thank you.

Thank you, but how long is it safe to let the well colonized jars wait so I can birth them at the same time? How long can a fully colonized jar safely remain in its inviroment to wait on the slower ones before birthing?

It won't hurt the jars if you handle them. My kitten has been peeking and picking up her jars twice a day (despite warnings) and has actuallly seen her growth *increase* because of it. She could just be imagining things...but it is her opinion that it won't hurt them at all.

I tend to look at my FoaF's jars every 12 hours or so -- he has me over a lot.   Doesn't seem to be bothering them.

I took the tape of the 3 slow jars and put filters on them then turned them upside down for 12 hrs. I read this creates a vaccum forcing co2 out. The growth has seemed to improve a little. PEACE
