My Doorstep
    #1688652 - 07/05/03 07:18 PM (20 years, 8 months ago)

There are some shrooms literally right outside my front door, most of them are very very small, and a tan to dark orangey tan color, and then i found two that are tan on the apex of the cap, with an almost neon yellow outside and stem, they bruise purple, but i havent really seen ANY that resemble them in faqs and sites so im confused as to what they are, i have no digi cam, i may try to hookup the scanner if i get some time, but any ideas on the yellow ones? cause they bruise distincly purple, and the smell is somewhat like sweet perfume, they are a golden brown and im highly tempted to try them, but im not stupid so ima dry em out and see how they look.

QQQ you need to calm down and quit giving stupid advise.
I've really had enough of your whole attitude, it's not amusing by any means. All of your posts thus far have been completly inane and useless.

If you're going to post in these forums, don't do it unless it's productive. End of story.

Don't eat them until you're certain of what they are.

A scanner does a pretty good job, so go for it.

Other things you should consider are making a spore print and writing a detailed description (like it says in the sticky threads).

Nobody should ever encourage another person to eat any kind of mushroom, not even one which has been positively identified as being safe. Food allergies and idiosyncratic reactions cause a lot of hospitalizations every year.

When eating a kind of mushroom for the first time, you should always eat a small amount, to reduce the unfavorable reaction if one occurs.

Happy mushrooming!

EnuFF fighting my friendly buttercups. More about the mUsHroom. My friend has found some purple staining shrooms in his yard before too and he ate them STUPIDLY and nothing happened to him thankfully. I wish I knew what these purple stainers were I've never heard of em \=

Ok; first you will need to give some detailed info for us.

1.) did the mushrooms have any type of volva (bulbous or sack like structure at the base of the stipe)?
2.) did the mushrooms have an anulus (ringlike structure around the stipe near the top)?
3.) what type of sporulating surface did the mushrooms have (gills, pores, teeth)?
4.) what is the substrate/habitat (material they where growing from/are they growing imediately near anything else, like a tree)?

To my knowlege, wich dosen't reach particularly far, there aren't many purple bruising mushrooms, so this should marrow the field a little.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
