i posted this already with no reply in the regular cult forum so i thought id ask the advanced so please dont move link. latley when i pasturize the temp gets hotter in one spot like to 200 and the rest is at 170 didnt know if you could help me with my problem? is there another way to pasturize without a pot on the stove. its real hard to do bulks because the poo filled pillow barely fits in the pot right away and its a big pot it holds 7 qt.s and 7 half pints at the same time help please. i was wondering if since the pillow case is a tight fit, that maybe its pressurizing the bottom making it exceed temps? there is know way to tell because my themometer only goes down 5 inch's. so how can you really test what the actual temp is at the bottom of the pot where i think it would be warmer. just not tryin to kill the good micro orginizms can some one help
Don't use pillow when you're pasteurizing large quantities. This way you can mix it and you solve the problem of uneven temepratures. You can succesfully pasteurize even in large steel barrel with propane burner.
put your straw in a pillow case and put it in a large cooler. Then boil as much water as you can and put it in the cooler. By the time you get the water to the cooler, it should be below 200 degrees. Put the lid down and let steep for 45 minutes. Then drain.
