A 22-year-old College Station man remained jailed late Sunday after police said they discovered more than 700 grams of ecstasy and a felony amount of marijuana inside his home.
The drugs were found during a search of Bradley Dylan Welch’s residence in the 200 block of Conner Street, where authorities said they also found a 12-gauge modified shotgun, a 9 mm handgun, mushroom spores, three cellphones, $980 and a pill bottle suspected to contain LSD that was sent off for lab testing, according to a court document.
He was being held in the Brazos County Jail on $45,000 bond for manufacturing or delivering a controlled substance in an amount more than 400 grams, a first-degree felony punishable by life in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Welch also was charged with possession of marijuana in an amount more than four ounces but less than five pounds, a state-jail felony punishable by up to two years in prison.
The search warrant was obtained through an investigation by the Bryan Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Team and was conducted with the assistance of College Station police and narcotics officers with the Department of Public Safety, officials said.
Welch was pulled over at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday after an officer doing surveillance on his home watched as he drove off in a CTS Cadillac, which was part of the search warrant, according to court documents.
Once Welch was in custody, authorities said they went through his home and discovered most of the drugs in his kitchen, with another 1.5 grams inside a safe in his bedroom, documents state.
The money and Welch’s vehicle were confiscated as part of the investigation, according to police.
Welch is on probation for a 2010 drunken driving conviction and was scheduled to be released in November.
Investigators couldn’t be reached for this story; neither could Welch’s attorney.

I'm guessing the 700 grams is in the form of pressed pills and not powder.

I see the true importance of LSD in the possibility of providing material aid to meditation aimed at the mystical experience of a deeper, comprehensive reality. Such a use accords entirely with the essence and working character of LSD as a sacred drug

this is such fucking bullshit.
MDMA is a legitimate substance than can give people positive, life changing spiritual experiences.
In general, it makes people feel peaceful and happy and united.
and yet, the powers that BE want it illegal.
WAIT a second. something that makes people feel happy, beautiful, spiritual, one....
ILLEGAL...
and this man is now spending many years in prison for simply distributing a specific combination of atoms.
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SYSTEM WE CONSENT TO!?

idk about you guys, but if i was caught up in something like that, they would NEVER take me alive. I have a few off-grid locales, and if that doesn't work, i'd have one last psychedelic experience before i off myself.
How the fuck did they manage to get that safe open? and why did they confiscate his vehicle for fucks sake?? "he's getting life, who cares, lets take this shit for ourselves. Donuts are on me boys!!"

Well, like any good drug dealer he should have known what the penalties for having that much shit in his house was he should have had a satellite location to store his drugs.
And I'm assuming his safe was likely unlocked.
There was a time when I was young that I could have sold X but then I looked into penalties where I lived an found out 1 pill = 1 man slaughter count. That made my decision tight there.
It's unfortunate a kid so young could possibly spend the rest of his life in jail but he was playing with big boy toys an now he's gotta pay the piper.
Hopefully the judge will be lenient, however the drunk driving history plus currently being on probation isn't going to help his cause. Sucks.

It's a small ultra-conservative town. It's not hard to find out who has the drugs

exactly. Don't fuck around in east texas with weight like that esp if you are living there. Sitting on almost a key of MDMA trying to move it in bryan/college station is so idiotic. He might as well have wore a county jumpsuit while trying to do it. Yeah people will buy but it will move soo slowly and the narcs are one roll away from you.

that's harsh, my jurisdiction it has to be atleast a triple stack before the prosecutor will hit you with assault charges, unless it's heroin based, then you get attempted manslaughter, and if it's speed based he'll drop the charges as long as it's atleast two parts mdma to methamphetamine.
