 Agar recipes specifically for Ps. Mexicana

well my anaconda has not been having much luck with his Ps. Mexicana attempts recently and he was looking for information from other people on which types of agar and substrates worked best for them.
Up until now he has been using MEA with Ps. cub with great success, but both with and without peroxidated agar the Ps.Mexicana has been showing very slow growth. Please help my poor snake.

Try PDY Broth:
Broth (strained) from boiling 200g peeled, sliced potatoes in 1 L water for 1 hr
20 g dextrose (look at sugar content of corn syrup)
2g yeast extract
Make 1 L with water
Sterilize @ 121 C / 250 F for 15-20 mins

pardon if this isn't as cogent as normal.. I'm a bit .. otherwise
the cultures were started fresh from spores obtained from a reputable spore distributor. They have just been exhibiting very slow growth. the snake will continue with his experiments and switch agar recipes.

the pH should be on. Unless the tolerances for Ps. Mexicana are different than for the cubies. All other spores exhibit good growth, but perhaps my snake will make a more concerted effort to dial in the pH.
Temperatures have been fine for all spores also. Right around 78-80 deg F.
I'll put my thinking cap on and check everything out again...

Ps. Mexicana, likes it a bit low in PH range of 5.5-6.0. in thier culture mediums. Slow growth acan be caused by many things, contaminates or evrvoment are the leading two. Soild culture mediums for most psilocybe's are drit easy. They work like this.
10 grams of (wheat or rice or oat bran or instant mash potato's,or instant oats,or any flour you would like to use)
20 grams of agar
1 liter of water ( rain water is better then tap,dung tea works as well as straw tea)
What no Dextrose? Iv found its not realy needed for most psilo's
If the PH needs to be ajusted a little vinger works to lower it and a little baking soda to raise it.

5.5-6... that is a bit lower than i had been lead to believe, but I can give it a try. The enviro conditions are all fine and contaminants are not a problem as there are several plates w/growth and no contaminants that have been sitting around for 4-5 wks. Sterile technique is something my snake is very good about and even grain jars have not contaminated over the course of 4 weeks+.

How much growth has there been in 5 weeks? What is the appearance of the growth?
Have you transfered sectors to new plates?

growth has been very slow. approximately 1/2 of the 100X15 plate in 4 wks at 78-80 degrees fahrenheit. The growth that has occurred looks textbook mexicana with very beautiful and well defined growth rings. Coloration looks spot on (like Stamets cultures) with no signs of contamination.
More than likely sectors are going to be transferred this weekend. Now we wait.
