Having a hell of a hard time casing without contamination.
Don't know what?s wrong, using straw and in another project straw w/cow dung.
My process is as follows....
Pressure cook both straw and dung for 1 hour at 15psi, drain and case into a Tupperware container which has been disinfected with Lysol. Colonized rye added and plastic wrap overtop, with the Tupperware lid on top as well.
All looks good for about 1-2 weeks until the green comes about.
About 3 of 10 have made through this, terrible success rate, could anyone here tell me what am I doing wrong, I really couldn't be anymore sterile from what I see. Obviously the straw and dung are exposed during straining and cooling, how else can I do this?
Is the plastic wrap on top of the Tupperware keeping in too much moisture? I do see water droplets form on top on the plastic, is it bad to examine them once a day? (Leaving the plastic wrap on?).
Any advice would be appreciated.

If you can?t guarantee a sterile inoculation with spawn, you MUST NOT sterilize straw or dung.
Pasteurization is the key word in this case.

That's why it would be better to use pasteurization instead of sterilization. You can try also with this method: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Forum13&Number=1603729&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

would adding oyster shells be beneficial to a dung/verm/cracked corn mix? if the ph needed a little adjustment by chance or shouldn't my orangutan worry about it?

Just dump like.... 5tbsp of hydrated lime in there. the double strength one! lol why are you casing with cracked corn and dung? I would think that cracked corn and dung you would want below your casing layer, you want the casing to be non nutritive usually. If you are spawning, then just leave out the verm. In general, all that stuff shouldn't be too hard for the mycelium to grow through, unless your having contam issues i wouldn't worry about buffering.
