Info on ingredients of bulk substrate and pasteurization also an introduction
    #16853716 - 09/15/12 09:42 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Hi myco heads,

I have been experimenting for three years now and finally decided to join the site and expand my knowledge of cultivating and need some info on bulk substrate. I have coco coir, verm, gypsum, worm casting, lime, and peat moss, anything else I will pick up. It would be much appreciated. Thanks guys.

I'm not sure how one experiments with this hobby for 3 years without answering your implied question...

Regardless, maybe those "inexperienced" among us will find this post of mine useful.

Bulk recipes vary greatly. Personally, I prefer horse manure, coir, verm, coffee grounds, and gypsum. Others use just coir/verm and are successful. I'm assuming you are thinking about cubes.

All the links in my signature might be useful for you. Be sure to check out CH HELL's Additives post. You can read about castings there and decide if you want to use them.

The lime and peat are for casing layers, and you do not need them for growing cubes. Keep them if you plan on growing Pans.

Well the reason for my lack of info is mostly from being paranoid of asking for help, also where I live nobody has any experience in this.

Most of my info is from this site (and sadly from youtube), but I have decided to branch out from just rye grain and brf cakes.

In all I just want to start networking and make friends with the same interest in these beautiful fungi.

You're in the right place! :shroomeryhead:

99% of the questions you will ever come up with have likely been asked.
