Casings stopped colonized when put in FC!?!

My friend put his casing into fruiting right after he patched it. He was following Hyphae's pinning strategy but it hasn't even colonized a little of the casing layer now. He misted it a couple times and fanned 3-4 times a day and has had about 12 hours of light a day. How long will it take to see new myc growth?

Pics? How long has it been in the fc?

"What I call self-transforming machine elves.Sort of like jewelled basketballs all dribbling their way toward me. And if they'd had faces they would have been grinning, but they didn't have faces. And they assured me that they loved me and they told me not to be amazed; not to give way to astonishment. And so I watched them, even though I wondered if maybe I hadn't really done it this time, and what they were doing was they were making objects come into existence by singing them into existence."-Terence McKenna

3 days, I can see if I can get pics from him. It only took one day with foil over it to colonize even a little spot.

Varies. 5-7 days isn't out of the question.

Colonization isn't as fast under fruiting conditions, as the substrate is entering a new stage of growth. As long as there aren't obvious contaminations, just give it a few more days before getting too concerned.

There isn't any contamination and it would be extremely unlikely to get any at this point. Should I keep misting it or just fan it?

You don't want the casing layer to dry out, keep misting along with fanning.

I wouldn't of added a casing layer.... If your trying to induce pinning I would have placed a piece of wax paper over the substrate. Crumbled up and then opened before hand.
I usually case my Bulk Substrates right after I Spawn to bulk.

Truth be told, a casing layer isn't even really necessary at all in most situations for cubes. It's more important to have a well consolidated substrate in proper fruiting conditions (fresh air, high humidity, etc) than to use a casing layer.

Your very correct... They don't have any real benefit for Cubensis.

As said before, what's up with the casing layer in the first place? If you're growing the popular species of this forum, then its not even needed. Wax paper trick will work wonders though.
Also, why did you put anything into fruiting conditions before full colonization and consolidation?

I was following Hyphae's pinning strategy.

You're following a 7 year old guide written by a TC who hasn't been seen on these forums in over a year.
Although it does have its kernels of truth and good info, that guide is absolutely riddled with outdated, inaccurate and a bit of just plain bad info.
A lot has happened in the last 7 years. There are newer pinning methods that are more practical and more effective.
I wish you the best of luck on this grow of yours, but on future grows, adjust your techniques and strategies according to newer information.
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of old information that still holds true, but it's always good form to verify the validity of the information you're about to employ.
