Some Q's before I birth

Hey guys, I've got 2 BRF 1/2 pint jars that appear totally colonized so I'm planning to birth them next week or so. I just have a few questions before I go forward with it, to make sure I don't mess up. And I do use the search function, but often get mixed results. Anyways, any help with these would be awesome
1. Since it's only 2 BRF jars, what size should my SGFC be? I assume proportionately smaller, to get the right humidity.
2. When I dunk the cakes, is tap water fine? And is it outdated to refrigerate the cakes?
3. What is the best light/dark schedule? 12/12 okay?
4. Best hole pattern on the FC? I read something about not putting holes near the top, to encourage moisture retention or something.
I know 2 cakes is kinda lame. I had 4, but lost 2 due to a contaminated syringe. Anyways thanks in advance!

yes, a smaller chamber would be a good idea if it is only two cakes.. tap water is fine, and DO refridgerate, it slows the growth and in some cases even halts the growth of any bacteria that may be present.. 12/12 for light will work just fine.. holes on ALL sides of FC... best of luck with your remaining cakes!! if all goes well you can make some prints and start over, with more jars;) peace

Garbage... I correct this almost every day. Cold Shocking Cubensis cakes is useless, it does NOTHING to benefit them in any way. They are a tropical fruit. And unless the OP is fruiting say Shiitake or some other edible do not do it. Fully colonized Cakes are near to Complete contaminate resistant.
You can make a SGFC almost out of any tub. Still drill 1/4 inch holes every 2 inches. With a decent layer of Damp Perlite in the bottom. Depending on the size of your tub.

1. dude just get a regular sized tub like in all the sgfc teks. My guess is you'd probably want to produce more. Save your money and time and just make a bigger chamber that'll work for a long time.
2. Tap water works and just weigh it down. Do not put P. cubensis in the fridge. First, it's a source of contamination. Do you know how dirty the refrigerator is? Second, the cold is detrimental, cubes are a tropical species and live in warm to hot weather.
3. 12/12 is common. But you can adjust to however much you want. Fungus doesn't really need light to grow but at the same time the better the light the larger the pinset.
4. Proper sgfc is 1/4" holes about 2-3" apart on ALL 6 sides. And make sure there is airflow coming through the bottom.
