No vermiculite for fruiting pf tek/dunking longer than 24 hours

I birthed my cakes and dunked them last night around 8 pm, and expected to go out today and buy the vermiculite to roll them with, but the home depot I went to was having a clearance sale in their garden department and were out of vermiculite, and it was too late to go to any other stores after that. So now I'm wondering if I can leave them soaking til tomorrow morning and go out and get the verm and coat them, which would give them a soaking time of around 38 hours (probably not), or if i should just set them up in the terrarium now and roll them tomorrow and hope they haven't fruited too much yet. Thanks

No! Do not leave them dunked. You are better off taking it out and fruiting as is. You can roll them tomorrow it probably wouldn't be too late but if you still don't get the verm tomorrow then just fruit the cake as is. It will do fine.

maybe put them in the fridge til you the verm, then bring them out, rinse them, roll them, and fruit them.
Seems like that might work. I've never tried it though.

Put them into fruiting, roll them when you get the verm (make sure they are wet again) or don't bother, they will still do good without a case, mine have.
And remember, RR says:
After the dunk, roll them in dry verm, then set them into the fruiting chamber for 30 minutes, THEN soak the dry verm with mist until saturated.

thanks for the replies everyone, that's what I thought. And one more quick question, this is gonna seem really stupid, but I was using the stove to heat up a nail held in some pliers to make holes in the tubs and the pot with the cakes in them was next to the burner. When I was done making the holes (about ten minutes of flame) I went to get the cakes and noticed the pot was hot. I took the lid off and felt the water and it was about the same temperature as a nice warm/hot bath. Would this temperature even for 10 minutes have some ill effects on the cakes? thanks again
