QUESTION ABOUT RYE BERRY PREPERATION

Hi all. I'm tired of the mess of bird seeds so I'm going to try rye berries. My 25lb bag came in the mail today and I'm excited.
Most of the teks say to use 1 cup of dry berries per quart. Is that completely accurate? It seems small.
Also, I communicated with someone who mixes bird seeds and rye berries. I have a colonized jar of birds that I'm sure is perfect without any contams. Will I be successful if I do G2G with the bird seeds to the rye berries?
This is my first time with the rye berries. I have experience with bird seeds and have had some success but I want to try something new. If anyone has any general advice to give me about rye berries, I will take anythig. Thanks!!!

They nearly triple in size. Can't tell you how many times i thought i had enough and had to get 2 more jars.

This is excellent help. I was told that although rye berries are mOre expensive, they are easier to use. Is this true? What exactly about it is easier?

1 cup works fine. As said, they will expand as you soak them and cook them. Also it gives space for you to add grain spawn and to allow you to shake the jar.
