Rosecomb, actually, and that happens regardless of what you use to sanitize.
Not to mention that's not even rosecomb. That's a mushroom growing upside down on top of another mushroom.

Petroleum products are known to cause rosecomb.
It's not rosecomb. Just some freaks hanging together. I love when a fruit does a handstand.

I should have got an earlier pic, it was a pin on top of a larger pin. Double your fun

"I want to scream every time I hear that. It's wrong. Lysol doesn't cause mutations. I can only catch it so many times, and this Lysol/mutant myth is spreading like a damn virus. Your new homework assignment is to spray Lysol near (not on) one of your fruiting cakes and report the results. Lysol is mostly alcohol and isn't good for mushrooms, but using it in the room isn't going to cause mutations. I spray the face of my flow hood with Lysol prior to transfers, so it's always blowing on something. "

RogerRabbit said: Lysol is OK, but petroleum products will cause rosecomb. Perhaps you sprayed some WD-40 or something similar on a lock or squeaky door? It's hard to tell if that's what it is, because I've seen strains that just do that sometimes. RR

RogerRabbit said: Another totally BS thing that gets repeated is that Lysol causes mutants. It does not. If you spray WD-40 near your crop, you'll get rosecomb, but that's not a mutatation-it's an injury. RR

RogerRabbit said: That's rosecomb. It's genetic. Start over with better genetics. Some outdated texts incorrectly attribute that to oils, but in my experience, few people spray their mushrooms with WD-40.
