Short Fat Boys

Hey Everyone!
I've moved from cakes to bulk and have my first two tubs fruiting now. Both tubs are mono, 1 1/2 inch holes. I am noticing that the mushies are short and fat, and it seems that the veils are now breaking and I would have thought the mushies would have grown a bit taller. Z strain, ms to g2g. I've been fanning the tub several times a day. Not sure if there is an issue with my water content or what, but any feedback you may be able to provide as to why the veils are tearing with such short, fat mushies would be most helpful.

I feel like I have said this 20 times in the past day or so, but, genetics?
Everything looks right in those tubs. No signs of lack of FAE. What is the RH and temp?

The air conditioning has been between 73-74 degrees the entire time. I have not checked the RH, but I will do that today. I am fanning 4-5 times per day. Perhaps I've lowered the RH in doing so?

Perhaps. I still lean towards genetics, though. The tub looks really good, as I said. So it might not even be an environmental factor at all. You have been misting right before you fan too right?
I had a few tubs of puerto rican once, alongside other tubs. Everything but the PRs fruited quite well but the PRs only grew strange looking pins, and very slowly. Was genetics. Makes me want to get on the agar bandwagon.

I haven not misted at all because the condensation on the sides of the tub has looked good. I fruited a second tub two days ago of Penis Envy 6, and while it is still early with that tub the pins are already much longer. I have a second MS tub of the Z strain consolidating now, so I guess I will check the difference in those two. If I get the same results I will go to agar. I was just trying to avoid that since I just moved over to bulk, but I've already got everything to do it.

Get ready for a ride. I found it best to take the voyage with them dried. Fresh, they were horrible. Real mind fuck.

Condensation on the sides of the tub does not indicate high humiditiy. It only indicates a large difference in humidity between the tub, and outside environment. I would mist every time before you fan.

Condensation is caused by a temperature differential between inside and outside your tub.

I stand corrected. I do think that RH still plays a role though, correct? From wiki: "Condensation is initiated by the formation of atomic/molecular clusters of that species within its gaseous volume—like rain drop or snow-flake formation within clouds—or at the contact between such gaseous phase and a (solvent) liquid or solid surface."

Haha, and in laments terms it would be where warm humid air collects on a cold surface. Meaning the outside of your FC is cooler then the inside. Which is fine considering its a Mono, the mycelium substrate tends to create its owns heat.

Like others have said it's genetics. I have 2 tubs side by side from g2g from the same burma syringe and one tub is short fattys with light caps and the other is tall sob's with dark caps. no worries enjoy!
