    #16834460 - 09/12/12 12:10 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

when birthing some of my brf cakes out of the jars [some are witch are not wide mouth] some of the cakes broke apart.i just filled a jar lid with wet verm and and soaked the crumbs in water and sat them on the jar lid with the wet verm. i got a few fruits from it,but i was wonering if there was any thing better to do with them. i am a new cultivator and using the pf tek right now. What should i do?

I'd cut my losses with em.  They could have been spawned initially if you'd had bulk sub ready to go, but now that they've already fruited I'd let em go.

You could still spawn them to something, a little tray of verm or even just all the chunks pressed together in a bowl or whatever you can find. Don't really have anything to lose, just toss them out if they become contaminated.

Wait, when you say not wide-mouth do you mean jars with shoulders (where you'd have to break the cake to get it out) or the tall-half pints? If you had mold in there that could definitely make a cake fall apart.

Crumble them up even more. Get you some Coir bring it to
capacity and pasteurize it. Try to  stick to about a 1:1 or
1:2 ratio. No need to add vermiculite, Cakes already contain
50%. Find something small, a bowl or something. Mix the Cake
Spawn to the Coir. Cover it up for 4-6 days with suran wrap.
Wait for it to finish and fruit.

I use a Cheese Grater, works great. More inoculation
points to colonize the Coir.

Spawning them is a bigger pay out then fruiting cakes by themselves.

I think that was 3 and a half spawned to 6 250ml jars of coir/verm

and this was 5 cakes spawned to 10 250ml jars worth of horse manure.

Cheers :gethigh:

Oh geeze, haha you might of opened a can of worms. Although
that I do agree with you. A lot of people say there is no real
benefit. Seeing how the cake is only 1/4 grain per cake. Which
is why I usually spawn in to Coir/Straw or Manure as you've
suggested. My Avatar is one of many Cake to Bulk.

I usually don't add Verm to the Bulk, since the cake is 50%.
