Closet growing

This isn?t exactly a question, but more or less I would just like to get some opinions on an idea from some people who seem to know what they are talking about. This is my first time growing. I have 6 half pint jars with Ecuador?s and 6 with South African colonizing right now, and they seem to be doing fine with no contam. I don?t want anyone to find out what I?m doing, because I have a feeling everything I have would magically disappear. This is what I want to do with them. I want to take my cakes and fruit them in 12 separate clear 3 liter bottles, and place them in a Rubbermaid bin in my closet(so I can easily place a lid on them to conceal if needed) with a normal 40 watt lamp about 6-8 feet directly above them. I would keep my closet door shut at night making it completely dark, but keeping the light on. Then during the day turn off the light and keep the door open which will give it a small bit of natural light, but it will still be fairly dark. Does this seem like it would work? Thank you for any replies and such.

That seems fine. Cakes don't need a lot of light to pin. A couple hours a day is ok. You don't even need to open the door during day if you light them for 8 hours during night with a 40W. It will be just fine.

What are you going to do about air exchange? I doubt you want to be opening all those 2-3 times a day to fan them out.

I go without doing the bottles, I tried that once with a cake and it contamed cause the humidity inside was too much for them. just lay a layer of moist perlite on the bottom and proceed as planned. Btw, maybe you should rethink about growing where you are if your so worrie that you can't trust the persons that reside with and/or around you, if that's the case??

Why would you use 12 seperate bottles? Thats really way more space then just putting all the cakes in a 10 gal rubbermaid container. Really no point.

O.K. thanks for all the advice. I guess I'll try the perlite tek since the bottles are not exactly getting good response. Thats why I asked, you'r the experts, not me. Thanks again!

Syd B. is at about the same stage in his first real grow. So he doesnt know alot. But that guy spends a scary amount of time reading on this site. He said that perlite is best, 1 container makes since, and you wont need the door open during the day. But he just knows what he reads.

I agree about the larger container, works much better in air exchange and also with the light. Also, I would not put cakes straight onto perlite.. it will work but most of your shrooms will grow from the lower part and be water logged. Good luck
