About a 2 weeks later with one week of a wax paper casing layer this happened

Then a week more and she has come very much alive

This is my 3rd or 4th successful grow and my first monotub. Please give me some feed back and ill post my dry results when i harvest in a couple of days

They are long skinny and leaning because you either need more light, or they are tryin to escape high c02 levels, and need more FAE. Fanning.

Remember c02 sinks to the bottom, it's heavier than air. Having your polyfill holes at the exact top of the substrate layer, or slightly below allows c02 to drain off like water.

Check both.

And nice looking tub, thanks for posting the great pictures, they are fully appreciated and add a nice icing to my night.

Well done, sir!
I agree you probably need more FAE and it looks like you should use a light above your tub so they don't grow all crazy directions.

I purchased the tub with the interlocking lid and it is solid white, i could move my fanning from 3 times a day to 5 and see if that helps on my  other tub that is a week or so behind this one. Should i just invest in new tubs with clear lids?

Awesome... w/ that spawn and sub i.e. can you speak comparitivly about rye/coir/verm? Also. wax paper? Is this to keep moisture in.... when did you decide to introduce fruiting conditions? Did you allow for consolidation? I wish you luck and peace with your flushes...

You can also just turn the tubs upside down (if they are translucent) and use the lid as the bottom.  Then when you remove the tub for FAE, it is easy to completely exchange the air.  You will need to keep an eye on humidity though, and be careful about contamination.

i just waited until the entire top and bottom was white then 3 additional days when it seemed to be pretty solid aside from a few pieces of straw sticking up that i cut. as far as the wax paper it was just to keep the humidity and CO2 levels right to initiate pinning.

Could i just drill holes at the substrate level to drain CO2 for the next flush? or would this produce contam and FAE problems?

Drill 4 holes on the top and the bottom of the mono tub. CO 2 is heavy and goes out through the holes in the bottom while fresh air gets sucked in from the top holes. I've used all kinds of different substrate and spawn. though each has different outcomes the  biggest difference I've noticed in my experience is the placement of the holes in the tub.

also try the simple and most effective 5050 choir and vermiculite substrate method with the 5050 vermiculite and peat moss casing method. you will be amazed. it along with the occasional can of spent coffee grounds for s**** and giggles is the only method I'll ever use from now on. Oh and less poly fill on the holes too. Remember a snug fit is all you need too tight and you will choke of the fae

When you say "most effective 50/50" are you refering to Damions Elementary tek? If so, it was my understanding that this tek did not require casing...

i have another tub going with coir/verm with added hydrated lime and gypsum. I havent seen much of a reason to case but i could try it on my next tub. I like the way the coir looks better when colonized due to the flatter top layer

yes I am talking about Damian's elementary tech and the only reason why I case is for extra protection against contamination and also for a more evenly thick and hardy flushes
usually unless you're really good at balancing the pH in the soil gypsum and lime isn't necessary with this tek even then it only makes a small difference

to be more specific on y I case. I usually get around 4 to 6 flushes with absolutely no contamination verses 2 to 4 flushes before contamination without a casing

Thats interesting. I have come across different opinions on this matter, would you care to explain why you think the casing layer provides to account for such a discrepancy?

(Do repeated questions or dialogue such as this constitute hijacking?)

sure. number 1 is that pe at moss has very little nutritional value. making it harder for any competitive mold or mildew to attach itself to the substrate below. second is that along with vermiculite in the casing layer it helps to retain moisture beneath that is vital to the mycelial network. we all know a dry network is an unhappy 1. third itadds weight to the substrate underneath compressing it in even Manor allowing a better pin set and stability for the fruits how to Grow higher and thicker
