First Grow Log: R44 & Cambodian
TEKS USED: agar's Easy WBS/Grain Spawn Jar Lid (this is how I attached tyvek) TranscendingLife's Lid Tek (this is how I did my ports) TranscendingLife's Simple WBS Tek (on the first batch) Doc34's Wild Bird Seed Tek (on the second batch) Citric's Fast, easy, fool-proof inoculation
Following with: Damion5050's Elementary Coir Tek TranscendingLife's One Flush Wonder Mono Tubs
And possibly LC's down the road...
Jars: 12 Quart jars were used. All lids were prepared using the Teks listed above. Each lid has a 1/4" hole covered with silicone for inoculation & 3/8" hole covered with 1 layer of tyvek and a piece or two of micro pore tape (until my new SFD's come in & I replace them as in TranscendingLife's Lid Tek).
Grain Prep: Cambodian: Prepared 6 Quart jars following TranscendingLife's Simple WBS Tek, leaving out the gypsum & coffee.
R44: Prepared 6 Quart jars following Doc34's Wild Bird Seed Tek to the T.
Both batches were pressure cooked at 15 PSI for 90 minutes, and left to cool until the following day.
***Neither of the batches were PC'd with a layer of foil on top!!!***
Inoculation: 9/04/2012 - 6 Quart jars (prepared using TranscendingLife's Tek) were inoculated with Cambodians MS syringe from a trusted vendor. 9/07/2012 - Remaining 6 Quart jars (prepared using Doc34's Tek) were inoculated with R44 MS syringe, from same vendor.
Colonization: All jars are sitting on kitchen table, receiving daylight from window. indoor temperatures are between 65-80 F.
Cambodian: -inoculated 9/04/2012 9/10/2012 - 6 days after inoculation: All jars, first row of jars is Cambodian

supposed to be a date on that paper towel

close-ups

best 2 jars so far

9/13/2012 - 9 days after inoculation: still best 2 jars! 2 days post-shake

all 6 lined up; left two are 2 days post-shake, next 1 was just shaken, last 3 haven't been shaken.

2 slowest jars of the batch

R44: ***NOTICE THE LACK OF SUNFLOWER SEEDS IN THESE JARS***
-inoculated 9/07/2012 9/10/2012 - 3 days after inoculation: 5/6 jars lined up

close up of some growth

9/13/2012 - 6 days after inoculation: all lined up

fastest jar of the group

The Cambodians so far are completely out growing the r44, its unbelievable. Any ideas why the R44 jars are colonizing so painfully slow? At least they all show signs of growth so far!
Updates will come every few days! Any input/feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah I haven't seen a single negative post about his mono tubs so I figured I'd try it for my first attempt

Cambodian: 9/15/2012 - 11 days after inoculation
first 4 have been shaken. Last pic is the slowest jar of the group. Still, these jars are beating the pants off the R44
R44: 9/15/2012 - 8 days after inoculation
These show the entire group, as well as the fastest and slowest jars of the group. The last image is just a close up.
I think I'm getting better at operating the camera

Thanks man! Yeah I was completely blown away by the growth in some jars. Just goes to show... READ THE DAMN TEKS!! Lol
On another note, I'm thinking about going out and buying a dozen more jars (I just got my SFD's!) And preparing them for a G2G transfer. Any thoughts/ideas from anyone?

SFDs are awesome. You don't have to cover them in a PC, fyi (I had no idea until someone told me.) I assume you'll be using RTV silicone for a healable injection port? Looking good, btw.

I forgot by the time I went down to reply.
I would recommend having some latex gloves or the like on. It helps keep the bead small and neat if you can wipe the tip off every time. I put SFDs on both sides of the FAE port.
What are you spawning these to?

That too was in the original post! lol. Sorry!
I live in a humid climate, so I had to adjust the amount of water in the coir tek significantly (after two failed bulk colonization attempts.) I personally use ~3 quarts water while the tek calls for 5. So just be aware of potential water content issues.
