Best Substrate Combination
    #16842163 - 09/13/12 05:16 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

Im getting into improving my bulk substrate spawn mixture in attempt to have a larger (hopefully more potent) yield. I have access too large amounts of; Horse manure, Spent coffee grounds, gypsum, verm, peat, and coco coir. I would like to know which spawn/combination of spawn have been proven to produce the largest/most potent flushes? I use rye grain from my local organic produce store as my substrate, i have about 30 jars that are almost at full colonization and im trying to figure out how 2 perfectly spawn them.
Im attempting to spawn in mono tubs or mini mono tubs i havnt decided yet, those ive herd minis are better all around. Please, educated answers only!

I haven't tried anything other than coir and verm myself, but my current grow i'm going with coir, verm, gypsum(up to 10%), and coffee grounds(up to 25% from what I've read). I haven't got it going yet as my jars aren't ready. I'm using wbs and pe. I don't know what works though as I'm still learning. Read this, I found it with the search

(shit load of good information in this first one)

Check the subs/bulk section in my signature link "bulk help? here."

I prefer mostly manure, some verm and coir, a little grounds, and gypsum
using RR's qt jar pasteurization tek.

Don't use the peat. That's better in a casing layer, which you don't need with cubes.

my personal recipe is as follows

30% verm, 30% hpoo, 30% coir, 10% decaf spent grounds. sometimes i'll substitute coffee grounds for straw. but it's been awhile since i've used it.

when adding stuff like gypsum you don't really have equate it into the volume of the substrate because it does not add volume. but i use a mixture of powder and pellet gypsum up to 10%  in volume of the substrate i mix up.
