brazil ethnobotanicals
    #1684232 - 07/03/03 04:51 PM (13 years, 5 months ago)

So im off to south brazil(porto alegre) in a week. My question is this:

We will be in the city the whole time. What sort of things can I find in brazil? Hopefully seeds of some sort so I can take them back and grow them here. Anyone ever been to porto alegre? Its like a huge city so I doubt I will find anything, but maybe there would be like a garden shop nearby where I could pick up some things you cant get here in the US.

mate is much more than a stimulant brew, it is very relaxing (although very subtle)...
don't be fooled by profit makers who sell mate in tea baggies as if it was a common tea, it has to be done in huge ammounts (~300ml of mate per gourd?)...
if you have a trained eye you'll be able to watch some cool ethnos all around...

As for vitiments and good stuff for you you cant beat mate.
I was looking at the spoon its made with but it a little small so i use a metal tea ball. On the package says you can drink it hot or cold.

Why didn't you just start using a coffee filter instead of ending useage?

Ya, the leader of the group going to brazil with me brought in a gourd with what I think is the tea yall are talking about and passed it around for people to try.... He had tons of it just poured in there, with this fancy filtering metal straw thing. Tasted ok, not good or bad, but it made me feel a little better with 2 gulps... perhaps placebo... I dunno.
