been reading a little bit. found out another reason why my tubs slow down a great deal, not because of light but co2. i tape the top of my tubs up with duck tape, and double line the top round of holes with micro pore tape. cover the bottom ones with duck tape. too much security could be my problem. too much co2?
it just has a tiny spot left to colonize, and it is moving, but at a snails pace and getting slower. one layer of micro pore tape in the future and no tape on the lid for sure.
want to start fruiting it, but cant till tonight. anyone think thats too long to wait? about 15 days in on this tub.

This needs to be said: there never was a war. "How can you say that, Bill?" Well, a war is when two armies are fighting. So you can see, right there, there never was a war … People say to me, "Hey, Bill, the war made us feel better about ourselves." Really? What kind of people are these with such low self-esteem that they need a war to feel better about themselves? May I suggest, instead of a war to feel better about yourself, perhaps … sit-ups? Maybe a fruit cup? Eight glasses of water a day? -Bill Hicks

ok. couldnt fruit the tub till the 2nd. its been 5 days in fruiting now and this is the type of growth thats showing up. dont really know what im doing yet. but im pretty sure the weird growth is due to being choked out by co2. i have been fanning the tub at least twice a day since fruiting. one side of the sub has pulled away from the tub. even if i soak up the moisture on top of the sub with a paper towel, the next day there is more moisture on top, so i havent misted at all. is there anything i can do besides increase fae to help this tub produce better fruits?

alright! the sub was dry, no matter how much moisture was on top. so the weird growth in this tub is probably a combination of low moisture and to much co2. so i decided to mist the sides of the tub really close to where the sub had pulled away from the sides. enough to have about an inch of standing water around the  whole base of the tub. i know your not supposed to have any standing water in a tub. but it was DRY, and by morning it had soaked up an inch or so of water for 3 nights in a row. now im misting the top only when i open it to fan 2-3 times a day so far. this is what it looks like now  there is some crazy looking fruits in there. but at least there is fruits! i didn't cover the sides well enough from light and there is ALOT of side pinning. used 2 black trash bags around the outside, next time im going to tape up the bottom.

in the bottom left corner of the 2nd picture there is a cap that grew out of the ground without a stem on it, on its side....crazy.
i also noticed that the one spot in the tub that was un colonized was the spot that gave the most pins. ALOT more then the rest of the surface of the tub. casing layers produce way more pins in my opinion. you dont need a casing layer, but if you have one there will be more pins than without. it was the right half of the tub. two clusters that came from the only spot in the tub that didnt have mycelium on top of it.

Awesome man! I hope to be doing my first grow soon. Not using the grain method as you used but using the BRF cake method. Nice pictures. Glad it all went well!

Hey orion, Where did you get the gt spores from?

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.
