Just watch how you do it. The water can easily boil out of the syringe. I prefer to PC my water separately in a jar with 2 injection ports and use an airport syringe to get it out

These are the TEKs I use. They're all as cheap and easy as possible, just like your mom.

You can just use foil over a jar, shotglass, or glass container. No need to get fancy. Just don't remove the foil until you're ready to use the liquid.

What I do...
1.Boil a pot of water for about 5-10 minutes. 2.Suck up water in the syringe, Let sit for 1-2 minutes. 3.Spray water into sink (anywhere but the boiling water). (a)Repeat step 2,3 4-6 times.
4.Last time let sit and cool.
5.Create spore syringe.
Works for me every time

yea normally thats what i was trying but i was noticing that even after scrubbing a pot and rinsing 3 times i would always have some amount of oil in my water haha. Im going to go with the water in the jar idea, seems the safest

Select a pyrex glass; wash it multiple times with various cleaners until it's 100% clean and contains no chemical residuals. Proceed to boil water in this glass in your microwave. you should be able to create a tyvek cover and rubberband it in place without any real trouble.
****When boiling water in the microwave you should ALWAYS toss a wooden skewer or toothpick into the container. This provides nucleation points and ensures the water boils when it reaches temperature instead of potentially superheating. Superheated liquids will basically explode when any new object / material is introduced to them.*****

As a noob I had great success and made 8 x 10-12ml syringes with a 1" print. PC'd the distilled water in a 1/2 pint with a hole in the lid, and another 1/2 pint to mix up my solution in. Covered them both with foil before pc'ing and used new sterile syringes (less than $1 each) that I wiped the packets (alcohol) before they went in my glove box. Everything got wiped with alcohol (90%) and I quickly just transferred my sterile solution to mixing jar syringe by syringe. (bit repetitive, but quick as I could). Scraped my spores in with an inoc loop (disposable one cost less than $1), mixed it up , filled them up... No contams in the 2 I've used so far. Seems I pulled it off. Is it worth recycling the needles? Do they rust? or for the few cents am I just better off buying new ones?
