Mushrooms found in my location (including one only found in my county) New Mexico Gymnopilus junonius Gymnopilus luteofolius Panaeolus cinctulus Psilocybe mescaleroensis (Lincoln county/ mescalero) mushrooms found, identified, and tested:
Gymnopilus luteofolius Panaeolus cinctulus
Mushroom in question displays mixed characteristics: conical cap (most psilocybins?) saprotrophic (Gymnopilus sp) hydrophanous bluing(most psilocybins, some gymnopilus (rarely), and some boletus) No anulus (rules out Mescaleroensis) semi attached gills (Gymnophilous) Did I find a psilocybin? Thanks we went on a camping forray in a place that is chock full of mushrooms and sacred to the apaches. We have been discovering lots of very unusual things up in those mountains... we refer to the places most folks camp as "the baby pool" And I do my mountaineering barefoot! Anyhow, I am really mainly interested in amanitas, but would sure like to find out about these beauties real soon!

Your mushrooms are Stropharia aeruginosa or S. cyanea. Psilocybin mushrooms bruise blue where damaged; your mushrooms are blue but do not get more blue where damaged.

Mr. R, I think these are some kind of Stropharia, but they are neither sticky or slimy, as thus far both species have been described. Are there some further characteristics which can help us narrow it down a little? not very good information on their toxicity either.
