LIQUID CULTURE QUANTITY FOR BIRD SEED QUARTS

My friend showed me all about cultivation; most of my knowledge comes from that experience. I don't know if he made liquid culture different than the tek proportions, but if I use 4cc (1cc each hole) for an 8oz brown rice cake, how much do I use for a quart jar 2/3 full of bird seeds? Also, would I only use 2cc for a 4oz brown rice cake? Is that how it works?

1cc of lc is more than enough for a quart jar.

I usually inoculate 4 jars with each syringe full. There's a bit of solution left over with little mycelium so each jar gets about 2ccs. If you aim for the side of the jar and turn the syringe a tad while pressing the plunger you can cover more of the jar wall. 1cc will get the job done though.

IT doesnt matter how much you use. At some point you can use too much but that would be like using cups of lc per quart jar. If the lc is unlimited, then I would go with no less than 1 cc per jar. You can use a drop per hole also. I wouldn't use a cc per hole on a brf jar. I would use 1/4th to 1/2 per hole. But like I said earlier. You could use 5cc per hole on a brf cake if you wanted to. So what I am really saying is that it doesnt matter.

Oh, really, Tahoe? Is that true? That's very interesting but makes me feel better. I feel like bird seeds don't successfully colonize too easy, and I always thought it was specifically the moisture content. This is good to know, tho. I will use 1-2cc each jar. I always find that "less is more", but other times, you just gotta make sure you use enough.

yes, what I said is very true. I did an experiment here where I used like 50cc of lc on 2-3 cups of wbs. It was all good.

Burst seeds and the release of starch is the problem, but if the jars are good you can sling a lot of inoculant in there. Any extra will pool at the bottom and colonize there. I sweep the side of the jar and it gives a nicer 20% colonization for shaking. Cakes might be more sensitive to excess water since the inside of the grain is already exposed, though I don't make cakes and am just guessing.

I have some jars of 100% colonized bird seeds that I was saving for G2G. I just ordered 25lb of rye berry bc I want to try something new. I find the bird seeds to be a big mess
