Got Side Tracked (Shiitake)

As some of you know last year I had a small micro scale shiitake operation in the works, and made a little bit of spare cash selling the fruits to friends and family. At the end of last summer I inoculated 50+ blocks of pasteurized sawdust with 4 different strains of shiitake, FP strain, A-10, CS, and H01. I ended up starting another career shortly after this and never got around to doing anything with the blocks.
Well here we are 7-8 months later and I finally got around to stripping the blocks and placing them outside. Lots of the bags had invitro fruits.
I simply cut the bags, placed them outside in my shiitake graveyard and gave them a good wash down. I will post some updates as they start to fruit, I have a few friends drooling and waiting for some outdoor shiitake's.

There is 32-34 blocks that I birthed outside and added to the already 65+ shiitake blocks that have been sitting there from last year. I always tend to bite off more then I can chew, but with my upcoming oyster projects I needed the room and a clean slate.

Its the (not so) secret shitake burial ground!
While I have not gotten to them before the slugs all that often, I am continually surprised by my outdoor blocks managing to push out fruits.
Where you are I expect that things are more productive.
Good luck!
JD
P.S. You actually do not need a PC at all to make unsupplemented sawdust sack for shitake jenia. (search up a pellets+boiling water tek)

Not one of these was pressure cooked.
All of these blocks were made using pasteurized sawdust(fuel pellets). You can find out more by searching for Lipas Fuel Pellet TEK. That is how all of these bags are made.
Also check out this post I made in regards to the results of a few different strains on pasteurized fuel pellets: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/15048765#15048765

Always liked seeing the shiitake graveyard.
As far as your BE, it seems rather low for the tek you used or is that always the case? Strain dependant for shiitake? Tbh, i havent read much on the subject. Im personally trying to get past pasteurization processes first (before i step too far ahead) with my newspaper and it seems to be failing but my straw bucket seems to be doing fine minus the gnat infestation.

Hey EM,
I was putting a very nice pork roast into the oven this evening, and I thought to check my own block pile. It managed to add some nice fruits to the pot.
I find that I lose the majority of fruits to bugs, as I do not check them as often as I might, but it is amazing how they fruit even as they crumble apart.
A straw block that Lipa made for me a very long time ago now it still producing fruits.
Good stuff.

When using pasteurized sawdust the BE is a lot lower then when sterilizing and supplementing your substrate. However I can crank out hundreds of pasteurized bags in an afternoon, or I can take a day to run 3 full PC loads several times and only get 12-15 bags sterilized.
Genetics also plays a roll in things.

Sorry for the delayed response.
I have been very busy the last few months with work, my budding business, and other hobbies. The local wildlife and insect population have had some good meals though it seems. I usually see rabbits out nibbling on the fruits early in the mornings while I am leaving for work.

Hi again EvilMushroom,
I forgot to add to the previous post: I've got a half ton of HW sawdust pellets, so I'm glad I found a faster way to utilize it with the lipa's pellet tek you shared. I got a pressure cooker too, so I will try both.
Thanks for all the info.
