The blower is 230V. Are you going to use a transformer with it?

I found this if it helps

http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/13553926

It looks like it doesn't have the pleats for laminar flow...I wonder if there is a way of adding them? The price is right

See as far as the voltage goes, i'm not educated in that area.

I found that filter on this page

http://www.fungifun.org/English/Flowhood#sources

That's my way of determining if it would work or not

Thank you for the link. You have 115V coming out of the wall. So you are either going to have to wire for 240V or use a suitable transformer. A 115V motor might be easier.

If he's from america. If he's from europe he has a 240 plug in.

that blower is going to be very hard to mount. it's not a traditional furnace squirrel cage fan

also you should consider a 24x12 filter. 12x12 is TINY. you will have virtually no room to work in front off.

if you want a 24x12 you need a blower that blows out 220 cfm

i recommend this fan with a 24x12 filter from www.filtera-b2b.com

i've searched high and low for good prices and they seem to be the best. i wouldn't trust an ebay sold filter. and filtera manufactures their filters on site. they are legit

What is the difference between going with a 6 inch or 12 inch thick filter?

the difference really isn't a big deal in mycology. a 12" thick filter would be more suitable for a clean room filter. it really isn't necessary for mycology.

OP, do you not know the math to find the right blower?

if you don't...

square the filter. times it by 100. add 20%. and that will give you the cfm needed to push out laminar flow.

Do you recommend using a speed controller to help tweak the blower or isn't that necessary?

I got 480 with my calculation. did i do it right?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190709401747&item=190709401747#ht_1752wt_1186

would substituting this filter be better because of how much bigger it is? and it wouldnt be a problem if its only 3 1/2in thick?

thanks again man, cant wait to get this up and running to play with agar
