having trouble finding canning jars and vermivulite

i tried k-mart, frank's nursery, home depot and a grocery store and pharmacy but no luck. what can i use instead of canning jars and where can i get vermiculite? where should i keep the spore syringes until i am ready to use them?

Keep them in the fridge till you are ready to use.

Most hardware stores will carry canning jars. Try True Value if there's one near you.
Frank's has vermiculite -- I get it there when I need it. Home Depot should too.

shoot, they've been out of the fridge in my hot room for 2 days. are they still good to use?

Should be. They might be a little dry if you didn't use tyvek or tape the holes...but if they're not dry and htey're not growing anything, they're fine.

how can you not find canning jars... got mine from wal mart... also from a hardware store too... you can get them everywhere, vermiculite is hard to find... but i'm sure around this time of year if you look real real hard at your local like garden places you'll find it

use regular drinking glasses for jars.. with tinfoil and rubber bands.

I've never tried it. but i'm willing to bet you could mix powdered brown rice with peat moss and it would work.
Do you have access to a pressure cooker?

Ive successfully done pf tek with glass tumblers. (old fashioned) or any drinking glass of moderate size. Cover with double layers of heavy duty aluminum foil.
