Hot Plate Pressure Cooking

First off, I wanna thank the shroomery for its kindness, patience and quality information that it has supplied to me over the years.
There is little information on the use of single burner hot plates to pressure cook and I think this is crucial considering how prevalent modern glass top stoves are becoming. For those of you that don't know, it is not recommended to PC on a flat glass top stove. I'm not sure exactly what would happen or why its not recommended. Perhaps it has to do with weight or maybe with the fact that the entire PC would be resting on the surface and distributing a lot of heat.
Anyways, I know that a lot of us here on the shroomery like to can vegetables from their garden so here's what I've found.
I'm using the Aroma Single-Burner Portable Electric Range Hot Plate AHP-303 that you can order online from walmart and have shipped to you for about $20. Its definitely not the highest quality but I figured for the price its worth a try, especially since there doesn't seem to be a go-to quality hot plate out there. (Any one have a preference or link to a professional chemistry hot plate?)
So how does it work?
SLOW, but it gets the job done.
It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes for the PC to heat up and reach 15psi. That makes for a long PC session. But I'm happy enough. The dial seems to adjust the heat pretty well and nothing too major has blown up yet.
Heres the pic:

Happy canning!

Probably would've just got a little propane tank and a propane burner everything on here I've read says flame is easier to control than electric especial when pasteurizing at a specific temp

What's wrong with doing it on a glass top stove? I'd be pretty pissed if my stove couldn't even boil of a pot of water.

Think it's a weight thing coupled with the intense heat sitting on a sheet of glass. Guess it would depend on how big a pot one is using really.

From what I've read, it seems that your stove's manual will say something about the types of cookware that are/are not recommended with that particular model. Some PCs will list glass or ceramic cooktops as being safe to use on.

The only difficulty with that is making sure there is adequate ventilation. Since I'm doing it in a garage it probably wouldn't be a good idea. If you do it outside you have the wind to deal with.
Perhaps I could PC on my stove top no problem but I really don't want to risk it...
