water or no water...?
    #1682916 - 07/03/03 08:23 AM (14 years, 6 months ago)

in the directions for the wild bird seed spawn preparation it says nothing about adding water to the jar along with the WBS that have been soaked overnight and drained, but in the FAQ section it says that when using birdseed in a quart jar to add 130ml of water and 250 ml of birdseed per jar, Can anyone clarify this for me?

Because these are two different methods:
- or you soak WBS overnight and you don't add any additional water
- or you add 130ml water to 250ml birdseed
and then sterilize.

My take with grains, any grain, is to do a 24 hour soak, then a 30 min max boil (or until kernels explode).
Then rinse, strain, and load.
