fuzzy discoloration on brf cakes

I recently saw some mexican cakes that were growing a thicker mycelium layer than I have seen on cakes of other races. The fuzzy layer started turning blue similar to bruising but the color turned to a dark purple, yellow, and eventually brown in some spots. I frequently rubbed the colored fuzz to see if any of it wiped off but it didn't. I left the cakes alone and they produced normal healthy looking fruits but the fuzz didn't go away. It didn't feel or smell different from other white fuzzes I've seen on healthy cakes and it staye

you may be misting the cakes too much, the discoloration could be brusing from this.. i get this on my mexican strain(mazatapec). possibly not enough fae and too much misting, but the misting is likely the main problem

Dude my Pink Buffalo are colonizing right now. ((Almost done)) and I noticed about a week ago in 3 of the 6 jars there was a yellowish fuzz on my cakes about the size of a quarter. But since then the mycelium has overcome almost all of it and appears to be almost completely diminished. This may have been mycel. Piss. Who knows. Check out my post about it for pics.

Pictures.
OP, you need to increase Fresh Air Exchange. I'm assuming you rolled in Vermiculite after the dunk? With low FAE, the mycelium will actually begin to colonize the Recently added Vermiculite.
The bruising is probably from misting, as said before. The fuzzy Mycelium tends to bruise easily. Even with gentle touching.

I actually don't mist at all, I have them in a large clear plastic bin with holes cut in the bottom. I fan them atleast three times a day. I have 3 strains in the bin, the ones showing the weird coloring are mazatapec mexicans. They were dunked then rolled after coming out of the jar then put in the bin. I have grown other strains this way quite a few times and have been very successful. Nothing has changed but the strain and I now have these color patches on only those mexican cakes. They did take quite a bit longer to start pinning but I thought that might be more related to the slow colonization of the strain. What I assumed to be the mycelium growing around the verm. was quite a bit thicker on the mexicans than I had seen in the past but I thought that also might just be a slight difference in how the mexicans grow, until it started changing colors. I harvested a first flush and rinsed the cakes, they are now dunking again. If the fuzz comes back when I put it back in the bin I'll take some pictures.
I just worry that the fruits it produces might be unsafe. I haven't seen the color spots spread to cakes of other strains.
