Your first three armillaria species seem like A. tabescens, though stipe and gill pic would help. Looks like you had a nice journey through the woods, did you collect any of the edibles?

Thanks for sharing your goodies

Sorry, I don't have anything to ID but I love the fact that you are doing all these for the Illinois region!

I did take the younger chicken, hericium, and a view flammulina, as well as some "A. tabescens" which ended up being worm holey (even the unopened young ones). The others were all very delicious. I'd never found a Hericium before, and this was my first season hunting Chicago area so I am very excited to have found all that I did. I wish I had remembered that Volvariella bombycina is edible but that's okay. It was really too beautiful to pick.

thanks for the comments. I want to document as much as possible when I'm in Chicago as there is not a ton of stuff out there.

Anyways here are more pictures of the first Armillaria sp...'tabescens'??

A few IDs...

1-3 Armillaria. Looks like Armillaria mellea to me. Definitely not A. tabescens as I can see a ring.
4 Mycena haematopus
7 Marasmius strictipes
8 Agaricus
10 Mycena haematopus
21 Artomyces pyxidatus
23 Mycena haematopus
24 Dunno. Not Pluteus I don't think.
25 Mycena haematopus
34 Agaricus placomyces

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

Cool stuff Nboy!

Im trying to guess which forest preserve you were in from your pics:lol: great to see another enthusiast in the area. Have you stopped by for an Illinois mycological association meeting?

Andy Wilson is giving a Mushroom identification workshop at the botanic garden in a couple weeks, you should checking out!

Thanks for the ID help everyone!

Wish I could make it to an Illinois myc meeting... Sadly and not so sadly I've left the midwest for the season to my other home on the northern coast of california. Only been here for a week and found lobsters, king boletes, chanterelles, hedgehogs, Russula xermapelina & aeruginea, dark and light capped oysters, Fomitopsis officinalis, and many more non edibles!
