small tub grown using damian's coir tek and B+ MS rye berries. the first flush came and was ok. there are still some pins but they seem to be opening prematurely without developing fully. also, about 1/3 of the top is overlayed...
I was considering casing it with a 50/50 peat casing.
what do yall think of this idea at this point? would it be beneficial? has anyone ever cased after a flush??

Don't case.. Pictures help.
If you feel you must case. Just use Wax paper, way faster and works great. Crumple a sheet into a ball and open it back up. Gently lie it over the substrate.

Don't Case after your second flush it will contaminate likely.
Use the wax paper, just remove it to mist fan and replace it if the wax paper becomes soggy
It sounds like you did not make your sub with the correct moisture content if your second flush is fizzling out. Can you give it a dunk or a soak of some kind to rehydrate the mycelium?

The sub cannot be overlayed, overlay is a term used to describe a casing layer being colonized, which you don't have on your sub. Perhaps you mean the myc is matted?
Pics do help lol

- this is the tub in question.
-and this is the FC, any thoughts on this would be appreciated too. that fun kicks on every 1hr10min, there are 5 slits cut in the cover, i fan it several times a day, and the humidifier runs between 15-25% power all the time.

Is it a tub or a tray?
Seems a tub would not be in a GH but when you say tub I assume monotub.
Your tray of myc looks fine, I think you just need to dunk the sub and get it some water.
Try running the faucet on it at a light trickle for a hour or two. Pour off standing water and then reintroduce to your GH.
Maybe cut the fan back a bit could be drying things out being that close blasting directly on them

If it needs it.
Pour a gallon of water over the substrate. Let sit 1 hour, and drain off excess water.

If it has pulled away a good bit from the sides of the tubs. And of course looks dry, experience from multiple grows will help down the line. Pick up the tub and judge by the weight.
