So if jars shouldn't be in total darkness what about colonizing monotubs? Should they be in total darkness during colonizing?

So colonizing monotubs should have ambient light and the air holes should be covered until fully colonized. Then after they're fully colonized just uncover holes and stuff with polyfill and fan and the fae alone will initiate pinning?

yes sir....and the 6500k direct light on 12/12 schedule.
i just fruited a tub that was colonized for 16 days, given ambient light.
i used a 1-2 ratio, wbs-coir/verm, and i have been fanning like 4 times a day with loose polyfil.
this tub is from a cluster clone but i have pins out the ass on the 3rd day of fruiting.

So a 6500k 15watt cfl is enough for one tub?
I have read before that just sitting next to a window is enough with no supplemental light. This isn't true?

yes by a window will work, but a 6500k cfl 12/12 is optimal...
its more controllable and is the perfect color spectrum....u can get 2 for $10 at lowes

yes, itll fruit the same as the guy with the light bulb. iv tried everything light wise and the only differenc i notice is natural light. having it under a window will actually probably work better then a bulb. direct sunlight for an hour a day makes a big differenc to me

It depends on the window. Either use bright 6500K CFL lamps or an east or south facing window(assuming northern hemisphere). If the window only provides dappled, low-level light you're recommended to supplement it with a 6500K lamp.
A bit of direct sunlight each day works wonders too. RR
