Airborne contams a risk in tropics?

So I've inoculated my jars and currently have them hidden in the back of my wardrobe. They have a happy 26c-27c in there. I've read on numerous threads that light assists with mycelium growth, but am a little scared to bring them out in the open, on a shelf or something like that. The reason being is there is mould everywhere here. If I don't watch it my leather furniture will grow mould. It grows on the ceiling of the garage, bathroom... the walls of the kitchen. I kill and clean it with bleach regularly. That's the tropics for you. I don't get mould in my clothes because I keep the wardrobe door shut. I know the verm layer protects from contams (brf jars)... but am unsure that that I would be better keeping them protected there in the dark, or giving light and potentially exposing them to all these airborne nasties. Weighing the scales, but am unsure... Any advice from more experienced members please?

Doesn't matter how mold there is, it can't get into the jars through the filter or dry verm layer.

And what happens when you open it in order to pull out your clothes?
Mold spores are microscopic and they are everywhere, even inside the cleanest house. There are no doors which can stop them, only filters
Your dry verm barrier acts as a filter because it prevents germination of mold spores landed on it (no water, no life).
On the other hand keeping those jars in your wardrobe won't be detrimental. Total darkness does not harm the mycelium, but light can provides some benefit.
Hope this helps

The wardrobe is a dry environment... As the humidity is so high out here the nasties grow everywhere. But my clothes stay pretty dry.
Can the humidity wet my dry verm barrier through those inoc holes?
That's completely speculative anyhow... Pretty much decided to keep them in the wardrobe. The protection seems to outweigh the risks of the humidity and spores floating around everywhere.

Good luck. It is hot ad humid here and I have had trouble with contaminants getting through my verm layer.
If you get real problems then you could look at building your jar lids with injection ports and built in filters..overkill but maybe necessary. Let us know how it goes.

It's worth noting one of the ways contaminants could potentially get through the dry verm layer is if it gets wet and that's more likely to happen if you're storing them in an enclosed environment, also can happen if you leave the foil on after you finish sterilizing make sure you don't put that back on. A lot of beginners mistakenly do.

I haven't done any of that, so goodness know how it failed but there was the awful yellowish stuff growing. It wasn't there this morning.

No I haven't tried that yet..maybe I will try with the contaminated jar that I removed from the house.

I've read the teks pretty thoroughly, didn't see anyone put the foil back on. Figured it would stop the minimal GE also...? I paid strict attention to dry the edge of my jars with paper towel before adding the verm layer too, making sure that verm layer is nice and dry the whole way around the jar.
Have considered putting a layer of micropore on the lids and putting them on the shelf, but as the contams are microscopic anyhow... almost no difference. ?
For now the wardrobe is the spot. But I'm going straight outside with my jars, with a poo/straw substrate. Just too hot inside for ideal conditions as far as I can figure (no breeze inside). No way I'm going to be able to get ideal fruiting temps in a FC. In my coolest room it's 27-28c avg daytime temps, and it's getting warmer every week.

If it's liquidy and on the mycelium it's metabolites.

Just checked my jars... After 4 days there are nice healthy patches of mycelium 1-2 inches across in all of them. Which also means my syringe creation (I started from print as a noob) was successful. Hooray! Thanks for all your help guys.
