Stealth fruiting chamber

Well, in a couple weeks ill have guest(cousins) staying over at my place so building a big ass fruiting chamber is a little bit to obvious especially with nosey people. So im thinking maybe I can build a sorta micro terrarium for my mycelia cake like the picture i found of one online. Im planning to roll the cakes in verm and also drill four holes at the top of the disposable container to encourage some kind of air exchange. Only problem might be humidity but i hope the verm will help to retain that moisture. Has anyone tried this before? To add im also familiar with Invitro buut, my smart a$$ed self didnt get the wide mouth jar, so ill have to end up smashing the jar and I dont really like the feel of glass shards in my mouth. Tips and advice are well appreciated!

You can use a 2 liter soda bottle to make a mini-SGFC.

What you say is true, getting busted is always a possibility but the big fruiting chamber is not a option. Im just trying to come up with a way that the myc cake would be easier to hide

Drill the bottle like you would a SGFC, then cut the bottom 4 inches off and fill with wet perlite, set your cake on tin foil on the perlite, then place the top of the bottle over it. This is just one of several methods of using a soda bottle as a FC.

I had similar thing with guests coming. Just moved it into my bedroom, which guests should stay the hell out of. It's not like weed where you have to conceal smell.

I have tried a tea pitcher before just for fun while waiting for my monotub to colonize and fruit....but it was only a 1/4pint jar and it only made one large mushroom
Im thinking just to small holes and not enough holes equal not enough fae and a 1/4pint jar is a joke unless its just experimenting for fun.
So if you don't have a bunch of 2the liters laying are you can try a clear tea pitcher.

That being said you could refrigerate your cakes until your guests leave?

Or refrigerate now. And stick them in a drawer until your house guests leave.

you guys really think growing them in a small container wouldnt work? Im not really worrying about yield or anything. The containers are about at a 93 % colonization if i put them in the fridge wouldnt it cold shock the jars at this point? thanks again for your input

The fridge would slow cell division and essentially put the mycelium into stasis. We do this all the time to preserve quart jars of colonized spawn until we're ready to expand it for use.
