Constantly stirred Liquid Culture ?
    #16812644 - 09/08/12 05:39 PM (12 years, 4 months ago)

I am trying to make a liquid culture of penis envy. I am using extra light malt extract and it is being constantly stirred.

My question is with cubensis LC being constantly stirred should it turn milky or should I see mycelium floating in the LC. I have only made an LC of pan cam also constantly stirred and after a week I had about 2 inches of mycelium in the bottom if i would let it settle.

But with the penis envy cubensis it is only turning milky. I am not sure if this is the way it should be or if I got a bad syringe.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

If you're inoculating from spores, it's probably a bacterial contaminate.  No spore print is 100% clean.  Some people have had luck with LC from spores, but the majority have not.

I would get the spores started on agar, then make an LC from that

It was started from multispore syringe.

well u need to shoot up a couple test jars and see if they fruit without contams.  If they do then ur all good...if they contam, then ur a statistic.

I forgot to mention... I inoculated some grain jars with the multispore syringe with no growth after 8 days. Then a few days later trich developed. I believe I got a bad syringe!

since I never got a cubensis LC going. I really want to know if I will get mycelium like I did with the pan cam or if it will just turn milky.
