EZ Felt Experience

Is EF-Felt REALLY just as good as synthetic filter disks? I have been using the felt with success but I wonder if switching over to SFD will lower my contam rate.
Also, are there any brands of felt to avoid? Surely all felt is not the same...

I've not used SFD but I see more contams with EZ Felt than I did with stuffing my holes with polyfil. A lot of people have no problems with it though.
I'm not kicking dirt on the tek or anything, it worked great for the first 50-60 jars and then I started seeing contam in about 5% of my jars. I changed filters as I saw fit up until that point, then I started changing them every time I made jars to ease my mind. It became too much of a PITA.
It's very inexpensive but so is polyfil and I can change that out everytime without any hassle.
Maybe I just had bad luck

I use EZ-Felt exclusively as my filter choice, and I've gone through a 50lb sack of rye berries & two 20lb bags of WBS using the same ones as I did when I started using them, with incredibly low contam rates. I actually don't think any contams were caused by a bad filter when things did contaminate, but rather a lapse in sterile technique.
I WILL say this though, I double layer my EZ-Felt. In other words, I cut two discs and stack them as one filter for each jar. Maybe that's why it works for me as well as it does.
My lid setup is four 7/64th inch holes in the metal lid. I then place my two discs on top of the metal lid, and then the ring for the mason jar over the whole setup...in other words, just like RR sets up his jars.
