Questions of Ratios: Immediate and practical Applications

At this point the working scenario is a 51 qt sterlite tub filled with 12qt bulk sub (2.5 inches) 4 qt colonized rye spawn (1.0 inch) while utilizing Transcendental’s mono tub tek and Damion’s Elementary Coir with allowances for tub size. These measurements are by no means exact, but they are close enough, like horse shoes and hand grenades. Questions:
1) Is the total depth of 3.5 inches adequate? Moreover what is optimal? 2) For the bulk substrate, excepting Damion’s recommendation, what is the ideal coir/verm ratio? 3) As far as gypsum, based off all of the above, what if any would be the best amount added? A) If none why? B) If some, how much and when to add?
As to #3, it seems based of reading that a higher verm to coir ratio then indicated in Damions Tek is superior for not only fruiting but as well faster colonization. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help? Thanks in advance for your consideration…

1) Yes, 3.5 is adequate, 4 is ideal, 2 will work.
2) I added an extra 2 quarts of verm when doing Damion5050's Tek since I heard many people claim that his recipe was too wet, it worked out great for me.
3) Gypsum is beneficial, add it during the pasteurization process. 10% by volume is the recommended amount if I remember correctly.

You can add gypsum in your grains to keep them from sticking together
Anything over 4" sub depth is overkill IMO
I always add an extra qt or two of verm in my bulk sub. If you err at all, err on the side of dry rather than wet. If I follow D5050's tek exactly my sub is more wet than the desired field capacity.
If you are working with a new recipe for bulk sub then you should always do the squeeze test to make sure its not too wet or too dry.

Whats up Death...? Hope the day finds you well.... When you say you have had success with an additional 2 qt verm is that in addition to Damion's prescribed ratio of coir/verm or as a substitute? (i.e. 2 qt less coir)

No. An additional 2 qts. so that the extra verm will soak up some of the extra water

Goin' great so far!
That's in addition to Damion's recipe.
