definitely is.

word on the street is that you should harvest just before the veils break for maximum potency, and that once the spores start to fall and land on the mycelium, it signals it to stop fruiting as its job is done

but all good, you have some tasty looking fruits there

:highfive:

see I've heard differently and thinking about it i can conclude this. why would it be more potent before the veil breaks its not like the alkaloids are going to break down once it starts laying spores maybe stop producing it so much at this stage so i think it would be the same regardless? but okay i need to get some dryrite at walmart... well i hope they sell it there anyway?

the only thing thats on my mind about it is this so they fell on to the perlite when they were growing because they off set the balance of the cake and now there is little bits of perlite on them how should i remove them? just after i pick them drip them in water? then dry... but that would make drying harder haha.

Do not eat the perlite bro hahaha, it would be like eating glass bits.
Remove it. Vermiculite is fine to consume. Gives you glittery gold craps.

I think the theory is that they don't produce any more alkaloids after the veil breaks, but bulk up the body, so there's less actives per gram of fruit.
but no biggy

and yeah, just brush the perlite off, easy streets

=D i can now use that magnifying glass i got to make sure i got em all, just a little of topic there.

there was a discussion a few days ago about harvesting. seems the best way would be to slice them off with a razor. 2nd fav is twist and pull.

a pc fan? ya thatll only take a year.
Use as big a fan as you can rig up. the more powerful the better, I use a fan that literally blows the shrooms off of it. I lay them out right ontop of the fan and put a screen ontop to hold them down. Still takes 3 damn days.
im buying a dehydrator!

You don't have any kind of fan in your home? At first I used 2 boxes. Bottom box has holes cut on bottom on all 4 sides then on top of it i set a square window screen. Box number 2 goes on top of that. I place mush on screen and box fan on top of box. You could just purchase a dehydrator at a local store though. :super:

Humid climates in your area? Prob so.
When I'm down south, with a fan, it can take 3-4 days to cracker dry.
When up north I can work it at almos one day one night maybe 2days. No fan in front of open window
Relative humidity, mannnnnnn.

I use Damp-Rid usually. After about 2 days the fruits are so dry they
break like friggin twigs.

actually its raining here so i cant sun dry thought that would have been cool, but no i got a fan just heard to use a small one is all so i plan on geting some damp rid or drierite or silica gel to dry it further i was going to use the method were you sit them on wire mesh but i dont have cutters for them right now, so i was thinking of making a mesh out of tin foil rolled up and weaved together?

so is it fan for a day or two then seal it in a container filled with damp rid for another day?

I only fan the fruits until there isn't any visible moisture
and the caps start to curl a bit. Maybe 4-5 hours?

Then I throw them in with the RID for a few days.

Pretty cheap, but a dehydrator in the long run is cheaper of course.
I've baked this stuff and re-used it.
